- A Registered Nurse license from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation is required.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days is required.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
- Provide high-quality support to physicians in meeting patients' medical needs under general supervision.
- Perform exercise and/or pharmacological nuclear stress tests and stress studies under the direct supervision of the supervising cardiologist.
- Review stress test orders to assess appropriate use criteria for orders from non-cardiology providers.
- Provide proper patient identification before procedures, medication, or treatment.
- Ensure medication reconciliation on admission and discharge.
- Assess and reassess patients before and after procedures according to protocol.
- Assess patients' level of consciousness and pain intensity.
- Complete pre-procedural and post-procedural documentation.
- Ensure discharge education and instructions are completed.
- Ensure patients are positioned on procedure tables or stretchers to minimize potential harm.
- Ensure vendors and staff are shielded, consistently wear a radiation monitoring device, wear a protective lead apron while assisting with procedures, and recognize distance as the primary rule for radiation safety.
- Provide direct nursing care to inpatients and outpatients during cardiac stress testing, transesophageal echocardiograms, tilt table tests, electrical cardioversion, and other Cardiology Service Line procedures.
- Interpret pre-procedure data and use nursing judgment aligned with safety protocols, independently intervening to resolve issues when appropriate.
- Monitor patients' ongoing needs to ensure efficient and effective access to services and inform radiologists and supervisory personnel of patient status.
- Attend meetings and training, adhere to approved policies and procedures, make effective presentations, and represent the hospital professionally.
- Facilitate individuals' understanding of their procedures, treatment, and immediate follow-up care after procedures.
- Complete other direct-service registered nurse duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.

Fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon joins Tidelands Health. Patients across the region now have greater access to advanced surgical treatment for neck and back conditions with the addition of fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon David Edelman, MD, to Tidelands Health Neurosciences. Dr. Edelman specializes in minimally invasive and microscopic procedures that help address a wide range of spine disorders while supporting faster recovery and improved outcomes. He treats conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine, including spinal stenosis, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, radiculopathy, spine trauma and compression fractures. He also performs cervical disc surgery and disc replacement, as well as complex reconstructive procedures such as anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) and lateral lumbar interbody fusion (LLIF). His expertise in minimally invasive techniques allows many patients to benefit from smaller incisions, reduced postoperative pain and shorter hospital stays. Dr. Edelman earned his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He completed his residency at the University of South Carolina and went on to complete a fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at OrthoCarolina, one of the nation's leading spine programs. High school students invited to apply for hands-on nursing event at Tidelands Health. Tidelands Health is encouraging high school juniors and seniors in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties who are interested in pursuing a career in nursing to apply for the health system's annual Nurses are Extraordinary event. The day-long event will give selected participants an opportunity to learn about the nursing profession, explore a variety of nursing specialties and discover the educational pathways available to those interested in entering the field. The event will be held at two Tidelands Health locations: Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital * Monday, Sept. 28, 2026 * 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital * Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026 * 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students will be accepted for only one of the date offerings. Through interactive learning experiences and conversations with health care professionals, students will gain firsthand insight into the rewards and responsibilities of a nursing career. Participants will also learn about the educational requirements and career opportunities available within the nursing profession. New physician brings decades of OB/GYN experience to growing region. Women across the region now have expanded access to experienced obstetric and gynecologic care with the addition of Dr. Brent Baroody, M.D., to Tidelands Health OB/GYN. A board-certified OB/GYN with more than two decades of experience, Dr. Baroody provides comprehensive care for women at every stage of life. His expertise includes family planning, pregnancy management and delivery, as well as diagnosis and treatment of menstrual disorders, menopause symptoms and other women's health concerns. Jay Hinesley named CEO of Tidelands Health as MUSC partnership advances. Tidelands Health and the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) have reached another important milestone in their efforts to strengthen their partnership and expand access to care across the Tidelands region. Effective July 1 as part of this next phase, Jay Hinesley, CEO of MUSC Health's Pee Dee Division, will transition to Tidelands Health to serve as chief executive officer. Since 2021, Jay Hinesley has served as chief executive officer of the Pee Dee Division of MUSC Health, providing executive leadership for MUSC Health Florence Medical Center, Black River Medical Center, Marion Medical Center and the Leatherman Behavioral Care Pavilion. In this role, he has been responsible for strategic growth, operational performance and advancing high-quality, patient-centered care across the Pee Dee region. Under his leadership, MUSC Health Florence Medical Center earned national recognition as a high-performing hospital in the treatment of heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure and stroke, reflecting the division's commitment to clinical excellence and quality outcomes. Prior to joining MUSC Health, Jay served as president of Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital and held multiple chief executive officer roles at healthcare facilities across Alabama and Tennessee, where he led organizational transformation, quality improvement initiatives and community engagement efforts. Tidelands Health nurses honored with awards for outstanding care. Two Tidelands Health nurses have earned prestigious Daisy Awards for their exceptional compassion and commitment to patient care. Edie Marvin, a registered nurse at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, and Isabella Herring, a registered nurse at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, were honored for going above and beyond in caring for patients and their families. Marvin was recognized for the attentive, reassuring care she provided to a surgical patient, easing anxiety by clearly explaining each step of the process and providing comfort before and after the procedure. "I have been blessed by good people throughout my life, but my experience with Edie Marvin was truly wonderful," the patient shared. Herring was honored for her calm, compassionate care during a pediatric emergency involving a visiting family. She quickly put the family at ease and provided steady reassurance during a frightening situation, demonstrating thoughtful attention that made a lasting impact. "She brought a calm, compassionate presence that completely changed the tone of the room," a family member said. The national DAISY award and the DAISY Foundation were established by the family of Patrick Barnes, who died of a rare autoimmune disease at the age of 33, to honor his memory and recognize nurses around the country who deliver extraordinary care. "These nurses exemplify the dedication and compassion that define nursing at Tidelands Health," said Ashley Capps, vice president of operations and chief nursing officer.
