Requirements
  • A Bachelor degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 12+ years of plant or systems experience with demonstrated leadership achievement.
  • Experience in food safety, regulatory, and quality systems and their application within food processing.
  • Experience in sanitation and good manufacturing practices, with familiarity with pest control programs and techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of continuous improvement tools such as LEAN, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.

  • Familiarity with industry-standard quality practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with formula and information management systems including Optiva, SAP, and RMS.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct the overall functions of Quality and the laboratories at the Maxton plant.
  • Direct programs designated to the Quality team, including SQF, HACCP, FSMA, recipe management, laboratories, auditing, Quality Assurance departmental procedures, product release, and withheld programs.
  • Provide Quality leadership to the Maxton site, including development of the Quality plan, alignment and development of resources, and execution of priorities.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the site Quality program to meet regulatory and CSC North American Quality requirements, including Compliance Quality and USDA and FDA requirements.
  • Drive process and continuous improvement initiatives through staff, work groups, Plant group, and R&D for process and food quality.
  • Manage and drive consumer complaint reduction programs and initiatives at the plant.
  • Participate in and lead the CNA Quality leadership group responsible for Quality strategy development, policy alignment, and network-wide implementation.
  • Respond to new or revised regulations or policies, specifications, procedures, quality requirements, and their implications for finished products.
  • Troubleshoot Quality issues across supply chains for ingredients, packaging, materials, and finished products, including mislabeling, allergen risk management, equipment risk management, and container non-conformance.
  • Execute against Quality Standards and Quality Policies.
  • Support and influence multiple functions, including Manufacturing, Product Development, and Engineering.
  • Apply food safety and Quality audit practices in the food industry and adapt them to achieve business best practices, including familiarity with the SQF standard.
  • Engage other business units' Quality teams in developing and standardizing Quality manuals, policies, procedures, data templates, audit standards and procedures, and Quality Key Performance Indicators.
  • Use Statistical Process Control programs and conduct Process Capability studies.
  • Drive organizational alignment on Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset, adapting structure, processes, and systems to achieve objectives.
  • Influence development steps in the Innovation and Commercialization process to leverage design in achieving consumer safety and quality objectives, including HACCP assessments.
  • Train, engage, and support the career development of staff.
