Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
  • Georgia-recognized certification in Medical Technology or eligibility for such certification.
  • One year of biochemistry, analytical chemistry (quantitative analysis), or molecular biology laboratory experience for molecular diagnostics.
  • One year of laboratory experience in hematology, blood banking, immunology, or related disciplines for flow cytometry.
  • Submission to a Color-Acuity screening Test.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Lab Supervisor with the day-to-day operations of high-complexity testing laboratories.
  • Perform FDA-approved and laboratory-developed procedures in high-volume clinical laboratory settings.
  • Learn new techniques and acquire new responsibilities in performing laboratory-developed tests and validating novel assays.
Desired Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of assay development.
  • Experience with nucleic acid purification methods, including DNA and RNA.
  • Knowledge of real-time polymerase chain reaction platforms such as TaqMan and FRET.
  • Familiarity with molecular diagnostic software for sequence analysis and DNA-fragment analysis.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and laboratory information systems.
  • Basic statistical analysis skills.
  • Experience in clinical flow cytometry.
  • Experience operating BD flow cytometers.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and flow cytometry software.
  • Ability to prioritize required duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible schedules, varied hours, or on-call work.
