About the company

Ontic is a global supplier and maintenance partner in the aerospace industry that focuses on providing established, certified Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) aircraft parts. It buys product lines from OEMs and then sells those parts and offers related services to major aerospace and defense customers, helping them keep aircraft in service longer. The company’s products are ready-to-use certified components with a lifecycle support model, ensuring parts meet safety and performance standards for ongoing operations. Compared with competitors, Ontic emphasizes owning and managing mature part lines from OEMs rather than developing new components, plus a long history (dating back to 1956) and a network of strategic partnerships that support reliable availability and aftermarket support. Ontic’s goal is to be the dependable source of proven parts and life-cycle services that enable aerospace leaders to sustain fleets and extend aircraft lifetimes.

Ontic launches CargoCare Boeing 747 exchange and overhaul programme.

Ontic launches CargoCare Boeing 747 exchange and overhaul programme. * Ontic has launched its CargoCare services, with its first programme being a new exchange and overhaul service for Boeing 747 edge flap drive units. * Operators have reported finding this component difficult to source, and the new programme aims to provide a continuous rotation of ready units for customers. New exchange and overhaul programme for Boeing 747 leading edge flap drive units is the first service under Ontic's new CargoCare brand. CargoCare is part of a new family of Ontic MRO services designed to help cargo operators keep their aircraft flying and their maintenance costs under control. The first offering in the CargoCare portfolio is an exchange and overhaul programme for Boeing 747 leading edge flap drive units, a component operators have found difficult to turn around quickly when an unexpected removal occurs. When an operator removes a leading edge flap drive unit and sends it to Ontic, a serviceable replacement is immediately dispatched from an exchange pool, with exchange times starting from as little as 48 hours. The removed unit is then overhauled at Ontic's MRO facility in Tewkesbury, UK, and returned to the pool, creating a continuous rotation of ready units for customers on the programme. Ontic customers can choose between a dedicated or shared exchange pool, giving the option of coverage without needing to carry unnecessary spare inventory. The programme also offers flat-rate overhaul for predictable costs, an extended warranty, flexible commercial terms, and responsive support from Ontic hubs across Europe, the Americas and Asia. "Cargo operators can't afford to have aircraft sitting on the ground waiting for a part to come back from overhaul. CargoCare takes that uncertainty away. Operators get a serviceable unit quickly, at a cost they can plan around, and a package built on how their fleet operates. It's a clear example of how our dedicated MRO capability allows us to go beyond repair and create programmes that deliver real value to our customers for a lifetime of flight," Dave Mayne, MRO Director for Europe and Asia at Ontic said. The 747 leading edge flap drive programme is the first of several planned CargoCare offerings. Ontic intends to extend the model to further platforms and parts as it continues to grow and invest in its MRO portfolio.

Ontic opens dedicated MRO facility in Tewkesbury.

Ontic opens dedicated MRO facility in Tewkesbury. By Robynne Trueman Ontic celebrates the opening of its MRO facility in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, U.K. Ontic has officially opened its dedicated Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, U.K. This is a purpose-built site set to transform how the company supports airlines and operators worldwide. The 72,000 square foot facility forms part of Ontic's $30 million global investment in MRO capacity and capability, spanning both sides of the Atlantic alongside the company's new Miramar, Florida, USA site. Tewkesbury brings together around 200 MRO specialists (engineers, technicians, customer service, supply chain and logistics experts) into a single hub equipped with dedicated IT systems, pneumatic and hydraulic infrastructure, an avionics workshop with an ISO7 clean room, non-destructive testing capability, a machine shop and a dark room, with additional space built in for future growth. In December 2025, Tewkesbury passed a series of critical audits, achieving BSI AS9100 certification along with Part 145 approvals from both the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) - FAA was also awarded under the CAA oversight. The team is working towards CAAC approvals and expect to be established early Q4. Product lines are now transferring to the Tewkesbury facility, with the site continuing to build toward full operational capability. As the licensed OEM for thousands of product lines, Ontic holds the proprietary data, tooling and test equipment required to repair components to original OEM standards - delivering longer-lasting, warranty-backed repairs at the speed and reliability operators expect, the October 5 press release said. The Tewkesbury facility is central to this commitment, giving customers access to a full, independent MRO capability designed to support their aircraft and components across the entire lifecycle. From the new site, customers can benefit from lifetime repair and maintenance support that ensures long-term continuity, consistent standards and sustained product expertise well beyond an aircraft's entry into service. Ontic's OEM position also enables ongoing improvements to parts reliability, including repair enhancements, material upgrades and obsolescence management - helping operators reduce in-service issues, improve dispatch reliability and lower total cost of ownership over time. The facility will also be supported by Ontic's dedicated 24/7 Aircraft on Ground (AOG) service, providing rapid access to technical expertise, spares and repair solutions whenever operational continuity is critical. Brian Sartain, Chief Operating Officer of Ontic, said, "The opening of our Tewkesbury MRO facility marks a step-change in how we support our customers. By consolidating all our UK aftermarket expertise in one dedicated site, we are investing in the people, capability and infrastructure to consistently deliver a faster, more responsive and more transparent service. Alongside our new Miramar facility in the US, this is a significant milestone in our commitment to keeping established fleets flying safely for decades to come." Dave Mayne, MRO Director for Europe at Ontic, said. "I am really pleased with the progress we have made in bringing Tewkesbury to life. Our teams have worked hard to launch the new site quickly so we can begin delivering the benefits of a dedicated MRO facility to our customers. Every decision - from product to people to process - has been guided by that goal." Combined with Ontic's worldwide MRO and support network, the Tewkesbury facility strengthens the company's ability to support operators wherever they fly, with consistent quality, responsive turnaround times and regulatory approvals aligned to regional and operational needs.

VIDEO: Ontic's new £11m aviation facility gets lift-off. Colin Cheltenham Times 18 hrs ago Summary. Ontic, a leading supplier to the world's civil and military aircraft, has opened its new state-of-the-art facility in Tewkesbury. The company has invested £11m in the new maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) base at Ashchurch Business Park on the site of a former printing factory, which was officially opened by the Mayor of Tewkesbury, Cllr George Porter, yesterday (Thursday). Details. Around 180 workers are being transitioned to Tewkesbury from Ontic's other Gloucestershire bases in Bishop's Cleeve and Staverton, as well as other sites. Some 250 people, including Ontic's entire MRO UK staff and VIPs, were present at the opening. Punchline-Gloucester.com was also there to cover the opening and editor Mark Owen was given an exclusive tour of the new building. Ontic has grown rapidly over the years from 25 employees in Cheltenham to over 800 across its UK sites, primarily in Gloucestershire. The MRO sector is seeing heightened demand as aircraft manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus face production backlogs, forcing airlines to keep older aircraft in service longer. David Mayne, Ontic's director of MRO Europe, described it as an "awesome day" for Ontic and him personally. "It's been a long journey for the site and the build for me personally," he said."I've been in MRO for 30 years so for Cheltenham Times to be opening an MRO site 30 years later is unbelievable. It's a phenomenal place to be. "Basically we are a component repair shop so the parts which require service or maintenance come to our service centre to be repaired." The new building includes a huge workshop as well as a support area for the finance, sales, marketing and legal teams. A 24/7 "Aircraft On Ground" (AOG) team follows the sun, supported by an office in Singapore, to provide immediate parts and technical support to grounded airlines. "People call the number which is constantly manned and we'll get a shipment replacement part or a loan unit to enable them to be able to continue flying their aircraft," said David. "I'm sure you've been on holiday and been delayed at the airport. That was probably because an aircraft was delayed waiting for a part." David added: "We are still moving people and products into the building. There's another 50 people to come into the workshop. Cheltenham Times can probably get 270 people in here ultimately." Ontic works with some of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, including Boeing and Airbus, but about 60% of its MRO work is with military aircraft. Ontic has a sizable presence in Gloucestershire. David added: "We have over 72000sq ft here, 70,000 in Bishop's Cleeve and 65,000 in Staverton. We've acquired some additional buildings and premises in Staverton where we are moving our logistics hubs into." The company opened a comparable facility in Miramar, Florida, last year; the Tewkesbury site is the second in its global MRO specialisation strategy. "It's been a long journey for the site and the build for me personally," he said."I've been in MRO for 30 years so for Cheltenham Times to be opening an MRO site 30 years later is unbelievable. It's a phenomenal place to be.
