ClearSky Health operates inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) across multiple states, delivering post-acute rehabilitation services funded by Medicare and other insurers. It builds, acquires, and runs hospitals to form an integrated hospital-to-home rehabilitation network, growing through de novo facilities and acquisitions. Each facility uses a physician-led interdisciplinary team, provides at least 15 hours of therapy per week, 24/7 rehabilitative nursing, and a full range of therapies, along with home-like spaces and case management. The goal is to broaden access to comprehensive rehabilitation for patients with strokes, brain injuries, spinal injuries, and other complex conditions, especially in underserved communities.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 20, 2026 expansion plans lifted ClearSky to 19 hospitals nationwide.
  • Eau Claire broke ground April 17, 2026, adding another Wisconsin market by late 2026.
  • Each new hospital targets 650 annual patients and roughly 100 local jobs, supporting referrals.

What critics are saying

  • Medicare reimbursement cuts in 2027 would compress margins across every ClearSky hospital.
  • Beloit's $30 million hospital needs permits, construction, and staffing before late-2027 revenue.
  • If payroll and clinical recruiting lag, new beds stay underutilized and sponsor returns break.

What makes ClearSky Health unique

  • ClearSky Health specializes in 36-bed IRFs for complex neuro and orthopedic recoveries.
  • Its hospital design emphasizes private rooms, one-on-one therapy, and home-like ADL spaces.
  • The May 2026 recapitalization strengthened sponsor-backed expansion and leadership continuity under Brockette and Warrington.
