Ultra-low capacitance TVS diode arrays.

Ultra-low capacitance TVS diode arrays. 7 October 2026 Littelfuse has announced AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG, two new Bidirectional TVS Diode Arrays (SPA Diodes) that combine industry-leading low clamping voltage with ultra-low capacitance to protect today's fastest automotive and consumer data interfaces from electrostatic discharge (ESD) without compromising signal integrity. High-speed interfaces such as automotive ADAS, DisplayPort, and USB4 are increasingly vulnerable to ESD damage as data-line voltages drop below 1 V to save energy and reduce EMI. Conventional TVS diodes force a trade-off between low clamping voltage and low capacitance, and many competing devices advertise a lower breakdown voltage while still clamping at levels that leave protected chips exposed to damage. The AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG close that gap, holding clamping voltage to a typical 4.5V to 6.5V while suppressing ESD transients ranging from 8,000V to 20,000V down to well under 10V at the protected device, an 800- to 2,000-times reduction in the voltage and current reaching the IC and keeping it safely within its Safe Operating Area (SOA). "The industry is moving toward lower-voltage, higher-speed interfaces faster than traditional ESD protection can keep up," said Sophia Hu, Assistant Product Marketing Manager, Diode Arrays, Littelfuse Protection Business Unit. "The AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG give designers an extremely low clamping voltage without the capacitance penalty, so they gain stronger ESD and surge protection while preserving the signal integrity and board space their next-generation automotive and consumer designs demand." Key features and benefits. Ultra-low clamping voltage: typical 4.5V to 6.5V during an ESD strike, as much as a tenfold improvement over comparable TVS diodes * Ultra-low capacitance: 0.25pF (AQ4315-01ETG) or 0.17pF (SP4315-01WTG) to preserve high-speed signal integrity * High ESD withstand: +/-15kV contact and +/-20kV air per IEC 61000-4-2; the AQ4315-01ETG also qualifies to ISO10605 * Automotive-grade reliability: AQ4315-01ETG is AEC-Q101 qualified and PPAP capable, rated -40°C to 150°C * Industry-standard packaging: SOD-882/DFN1006 (AQ4315-01ETG) and 0201 WLCSP flip-chip (SP4315-01WTG) for fast, easy design-in * Low leakage current: 50nA maximum to minimise power consumption in battery-powered and always-on designs * Broad protection margin: suppresses ESD transients of 8,000V to 20,000V to well under 10V at the protected device Target markets and applications. * Automotive ADAS, DisplayPort, and Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) interfaces * Gigabit Video Interface (GVIF) and Low Voltage Differential Signalling (LVDS) links * 2.5G/5G/10G automotive and consumer Ethernet * Thunderbolt 5.0, USB 3x, and USB4 consumer computing interfaces * Consumer DisplayPort and other high-speed data line interfaces * Industrial machine-to-machine communication protocols and legacy USB interfaces * Space-constrained wearable and portable consumer electronics The AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG extend the Littelfuse SPA Diode portfolio into a new class of ultra-low-voltage ESD protection as automotive and consumer interfaces adopt progressively lower data-line voltages, some running below 1V. Both devices let design teams move quickly from inferior protection schemes to a solution engineered for today's most sensitive, highest-speed interfaces. Keep up to date with the most important news. Sensirion environmental sensors enable advanced air quality monitoring. Farnell to strengthen rugged connectivity solutions globally. 7 October 2026

Littelfuse adds low-capacitance TVS diodes for fast data links.

Littelfuse adds low-capacitance TVS diodes for fast data links. Reading Time: 4 mins read Littelfuse has announced AQ4315-01ETG and SP4315-01WTG bidirectional TVS diode arrays for electrostatic-discharge protection of automotive and consumer data interfaces. The Littelfuse additions to its SPA diode portfolio address the selection trade-off between clamping voltage, capacitive loading and package size. Technical highlights. The announcement identifies two devices and two package formats. No additional ordering variants or sub-families are named. Littelfuse positions the launch around combining low clamping voltage with low capacitance, rather than reducing either parameter in isolation. Applications and selection. Littelfuse names automotive ADAS, DisplayPort, GMSL, GVIF, LVDS and automotive Ethernet as target applications for AQ4315-01ETG. Its consumer positioning for SP4315-01WTG includes Thunderbolt, USB, DisplayPort, LVDS and Ethernet. These are announced targets, not interface-compliance conclusions established by the source sweep. An official USB-C protection presentation independently places SP4315-01WTG on the device-side USB4 and Thunderbolt data paths. It distinguishes this position from VBUS protection and CC/SBU protection, which use other components. This is an important circuit-level distinction: selecting a data-line ESD suppressor does not establish suitability for the connector's power or configuration lines. Selection should address the following parameters together: * Working voltage and leakage at the full normal signal excursion. * Clamping voltage at a specified pulse current and waveform. * Capacitance under the published measurement conditions. * ESD withstand levels and the associated test configuration. * Package geometry, land pattern and assembly requirements. * Temperature limits and application-specific qualification evidence. Low capacitance addresses channel loading; clamping voltage addresses transient stress at the protected input. Neither alone establishes that the assembled interface will meet its signal-integrity and immunity requirements. Design-in checks. * Obtain both current datasheets before fixing the schematic. Confirm the working-voltage limits, leakage conditions, capacitance limits and clamping test conditions rather than transferring headline figures from the announcement. * Check the protected transceiver's transient tolerance against the complete protection path. Device clamping performance does not replace system-level validation. * Validate signal integrity with the selected package and final PCB routing. Include the protection device and its connections in the channel assessment. * Confirm the manufacturer's outline drawing, recommended land pattern and soldering requirements before layout release. The package names alone are insufficient to define a production footprint. * Request the relevant automotive qualification and PPAP documentation for AQ4315-01ETG where required. Detailed qualification reports were not verified during this review. * Ask Littelfuse for available simulation models, S-parameters, clamping curves and lifecycle notices. No device-specific files in these categories were successfully accessed; that does not establish that they are unavailable publicly. * Confirm sampling and production dates with the supplier. The announcement's FAQ schedules both for October 20, 2026, while its availability paragraph describes the devices as already available. Purchasing should resolve that inconsistency before committing a build. Further reading. This article is based on the Littelfuse announcement and official product-selection and USB-C application documentation. The linked device datasheets could not be retrieved during preparation, so numerical specifications have been withheld pending verification. Engineers should consult the current manufacturer datasheets and supporting documentation for final qualification and design release.

September 22, 2026 Littelfuse, an industrial technology manufacturing company shaping solutions for the safe and efficient transfer of electrical energy, announced the TX00AT314AMA Omnipolar TMR Switch Sensor, the latest addition to the TX00 TMR Switch family. The TX00AT314AMA delivers the same proven performance as the SOT-23-3 TX00AS314TRA - high sensitivity, ultra-low 1.5 μA power consumption, omnipolar detection, and up to 1 kHz switching speed - in a leaded TO-92 package and with South Korea country of origin, providing design teams with a new form factor option and a diversified supply chain. The TX00AT314AMA integrates a precision TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) sensing element with CMOS signal-processing circuitry - including an on-chip voltage generator, low-noise amplifier, comparator, and Schmitt trigger - to deliver accurate switching, strong noise immunity, and excellent thermal stability. Like its SOT-23-3 sibling, it features X-axis (in-plane) magnetic sensing for detection of fields parallel to the sensor surface, offering greater mechanical design flexibility. The device operates with a typical supply current of just 1.5 μA and supports high-speed detection up to 1 kHz. Like all TX00 family members, the TX00AT314AMA features omnipolar detection, allowing it to respond to both North and South magnetic poles without polarity alignment constraints. Its precise operate and release thresholds, combined with built-in hysteresis, ensure clean, bounce-free switching even in electrically noisy environments. "The TX00AT314AMA gives design engineers a new way to access the TX00 platform's proven performance," said Bavly Obaid, Global Product Manager, Sensors at Littelfuse. "The TO-92 package supports through-hole assembly and prototype-friendly integration, while South Korea origin gives our customers a concrete option for supply chain diversification - two things that matter a great deal in today's design environment." Key features and benefits. * Ultra-low power consumption (1.5 μA typ.) extends battery life in always-on systems * High sensitivity (~14 Gauss) enables reliable detection with small magnets * Omnipolar sensing simplifies design and reduces alignment requirements * Fast response (up to 1 kHz) supports dynamic and rotational sensing * Integrated signal conditioning and hysteresis improve noise immunity and switching stability * Leaded TO-92 package supports through-hole assembly and prototype-friendly integration Markets and applications. The TX00AT314AMA is designed for applications requiring low power, high reliability, and prototype-to-production flexibility, including: * Building and home automation (smart meters with tamper detection, position and limit sensing) * Industrial automation (proximity sensing} * Consumer electronics (appliances, power tools, battery-powered IoT and wearable devices) * Utilities (gas, water, and heat metering) By combining proven TX00 performance with a through-hole form factor and diversified origin, the TX00AT314AMA helps engineers design smaller, smarter, and longer-lasting products while reducing maintenance requirements and improving system reliability. The TX00AT314AMA expands packaging and sourcing options within the Littelfuse TX00 TMR Switch family, giving design teams greater flexibility without sacrificing the performance characteristics engineers already rely on. TX00AT314AMA Omnipolar TMR Switch Sensor faqs. What makes TMR technology better than Hall-effect sensors? TMR sensors offer higher sensitivity and significantly lower power consumption than Hall-effect devices. This enables reliable detection with smaller magnets while extending battery life in always-on applications. What does omnipolar sensing mean for designers? Omnipolar sensors detect both North and South magnetic poles, eliminating the need for precise magnet orientation. This simplifies mechanical design and reduces assembly complexity. How does the TX00AT314AMA compare to the TX00AS314TRA? The TX00AT314AMA shares identical electrical and magnetic characteristics with the TX00AS314TRA - including 1.5 μA supply current, 14 Gauss sensitivity, and 1 kHz switching speed - but in a leaded TO-92 package with South Korea country of origin. It is the right choice when through-hole mounting, prototype breadboarding, or supply chain diversification is a priority. What types of applications benefit most from this sensor? Applications that require continuous operation, compact size, and high reliability - such as smart meters, proximity switches, and portable electronics - benefit most from its performance. How does the device maintain reliable switching in noisy environments? An integrated Schmitt trigger and precise hysteresis ensure stable switching behavior. This prevents false triggering and ensures clean output signals even in electrically noisy systems. What are the key differentiators of the TX00AT314AMA within the TX00 family? Two things set the TX00AT314AMA apart from others in the TX00 family: its leaded TO-92 package, which enables through-hole PCB assembly and straightforward prototyping, and its South Korea country of origin, which provides a non-China sourcing option for customers managing supply chain risk. Performance specifications are identical to the TX00AS314TRA. Why does country of origin matter for the TX00AT314AMA? The TX00AT314AMA is manufactured in South Korea, making it one of the first Littelfuse TO-92 magnetic switches with a non-China origin. For customers navigating tariff exposure, trade policy risk, or internal supply diversification requirements, it provides a qualified, performance-identical alternative to the TX00AS314TRA without requiring a redesign.
