About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • At least 12 years of experience in hardware design, applications engineering, or system validation is required.
  • Familiarity with high-speed data communication protocols and interfaces, including Ethernet networking and switching, MIPI CSI-2, and display protocols such as DisplayPort and eDP is required.
  • Strong understanding of high-speed SerDes fundamentals, including channel loss, reflections, return loss, insertion loss, inter-symbol interference, jitter, equalization, and clocking, is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-gigabit-per-second serial links such as Ethernet, PCIe, DisplayPort, USB 3.x, USB4, or proprietary SerDes is required.
  • Proficiency with signal-integrity and power-integrity tools and simulations, including S-parameter analysis and eye and jitter simulations, and the ability to interpret simulation and measurement correlation is required.
  • Hands-on experience using high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, time-domain reflectometers, vector network analyzers, bit error rate testers, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, and related tools is required.
  • Strong skills in high-speed printed circuit board design, including layer stack-up, routing constraints, differential pairs, reference planes, decoupling, and power delivery, are required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required to explain complex technical topics to expert and non-expert audiences.
  • The ability to work effectively with global, cross-functional design, systems, test, marketing, and field teams is required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with integrated-circuit design, systems, firmware, and test teams to translate field issues and customer requirements into product improvements and new features.
  • Review customer schematics and layouts for signal-integrity and power-integrity best practices, including impedance control, terminations, return paths, via design, and reference-plane strategy.
  • Lead board-level bring-up and validation using oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers, and generate test reports and recommendations.
  • Provide on-site or remote debugging support for complex customer issues.
  • Develop and maintain application collateral, including reference designs, layout guidelines, design checklists, characterization reports, application notes, and training materials.
  • Participate in trade shows and provide field applications engineer training.

About the Company

NXP Semiconductors

Automotive semiconductors and secure embedded solutions

NXP Semiconductors designs and sells semiconductor chips for vehicles and other devices. Its products include automotive-grade microcontrollers and other ICs used in engines, infotainment, safety systems, and networked car architectures. These chips process data, run software, and enable features such as advanced driver assistance and vehicle connectivity, often with strong security and real-time performance. Unlike some peers, NXP became an independent company after Philips spun off its semiconductor unit in 2006 and later merged with Freescale in 2015, building a focused strength in automotive semiconductors and microcontrollers. This gives it a clear niche in the market and the goal of growing as a standalone leader in smarter, connected vehicles and related technologies.
