iPhone Duo waits are 50 days at US carriers versus 102 at Apple, Bank of America says

Buyers of Apple's iPhone Duo foldable may wait far less by ordering through US carriers. A Bank of America note dated October 19 puts the average carrier wait at about 50 days, against 102 days on Apple's own store. The global weighted average wait stands at 82 days. China, Japan, the UK, Germany, France and Australia all show 95 days, pushing delivery to about January 22. Analyst Wamsi Mohan said carrier availability "appears to be much better than Apple's own website," possibly due to varying inventory allocations. Carrier purchases usually tie buyers to that carrier's instalment plan. Wait times for the iPhone 18 Pro are shrinking, falling to eight days globally and four in China. Apple reports September quarter results on November 2.

Apple hits $5T market cap but trades at 40x earnings: buy now or wait for a dip?

Apple is one of the best-performing stocks on US markets, though it trails rivals in artificial intelligence (AI). Its shares are up about 26% this year, giving it a market cap of $5 trillion. Only Nvidia, at around $5.3 trillion, is worth more. The stock trades at close to 40 times trailing earnings, which raises expectations. Apple reports earnings next month, its first under new chief executive officer John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook at the start of September. Investors will watch demand for the iPhone 18 and the foldable iPhone Duo, which starts at $1,999. Weak demand could trigger a correction. The author advises waiting to buy, as Apple's revenue has grown by less than 6% over the past three fiscal years.

Zuckerberg thanks Apple's new CEO on X, not Threads, for Mac Studios running Meta's AI model

Meta chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg publicly thanked Apple's new chief executive officer, John Ternus, on October 15 for help running Meta's latest AI model on Apple hardware. He posted on Elon Musk's X, not Meta's own Threads, to tag him. The model, Muse Spark Open, has 816 billion parameters and is free to download. It runs on two or four Mac Studios linked together, each with Apple's M5 Ultra chip. A Mac Studio with that chip starts at $5,499. The thanks mark a thaw. The companies clashed over privacy, and Apple's 2021 tracking changes cut an estimated $10 billion from Meta's 2022 revenue. Neither company has said whether more joint projects are planned.

Apple vs ASML: $416.2B revenue against 15.6% growth and a 29.4% margin

Cramer's "own it, don't trade it" Apple rule could save $900 in tax on a $10,000 gain

Jim Cramer's "own it, don't trade it" advice on Apple resurfaced on October 16, the day preorders for its $1,999 iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone, sold out in minutes. The CNBC host has repeated the line for years and says only Apple and Nvidia earn that label. Apple closed at $343.46 that day, near its 52-week high of $348.15. Fiscal third-quarter revenue rose 16% to $109.4 billion, and iPhone sales rose 22% to $54.3 billion. Holding also cuts taxes. On a $10,000 profit in the 24% bracket, selling within a year leaves about $7,600 after federal tax; holding past a year leaves about $8,500. Apple reports earnings on November 2.
