Requirements
  • At least 3 years of progressive knowledge in concrete paving, quality control or quality assurance, or related experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience leading or contributing to a concrete paving crew at airfields or airports is preferred.
  • Must currently hold or be able to attain ACI Level 1 concrete field/lab certification.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 100% overnight to job sites.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain certification for nuclear density gauge operation.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain field technician, plant technician, and mix design technician certifications as required by states or jobs.
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain other certifications required to work in states such as Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.
  • Must be able to gain clearance for restricted or high-security zones such as airport AOA areas and military bases.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to meet job-site safety and labor requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary quality-control point of contact for Charlotte-based operations, coordinating with field crews and project management.
  • Support the Quality Control Manager in preparing mix designs, coordinating laboratory testing, and managing documentation.
  • Oversee and perform quality-control testing for concrete production and placement, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Review project plans and specifications to anticipate testing needs and communicate them to field teams.
  • Work with batch-plant and paving operations to monitor materials handling, batching, and finishing practices.
  • Mentor and support Quality Control Technicians, promoting consistent processes and professional development.
  • Compile and summarize quality data for project reports and leadership reviews.
  • Build relationships with owner representatives, external quality-control partners, and Hi-Way Paving field leadership.
  • Participate in job-site visits, safety meetings, and cross-functional coordination between quality control, production, and operations.
