About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree with five years of experience, a master's degree with three years of experience, or a Ph.D. with one year of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required for the Principal level; an additional four years of experience may be considered instead of a degree.
  • A bachelor's degree with eight years of experience, a master's degree with six years of experience, or a Ph.D. with four years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is required for the Senior Principal level; an additional four years of experience may be considered instead of a degree.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A final U.S. Government Secret clearance is required, and the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program access.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C or C++, Python, Bash, or C shell scripting in Linux and Windows computing environments is required.
  • Experience in simulations of radio frequency, electro-optical/infrared, communications, or related systems is required.
  • Experience working with digital signal processing and complex-valued signal data is required.
  • Experience with analytical modeling approaches using the MATLAB environment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Use Modeling, Simulation, Experimentation, and Analysis of advanced systems with C++ object-oriented design, advanced data structures, and test-driven development.
  • Develop large-scale data analytics, probabilities, and statistics, including design-of-experiments techniques to evaluate system and mission performance.
  • Integrate modeling and simulation with operational flight software; collect and analyze data from laboratory or flight tests; verify and validate simulation performance against flight-test data; and formally verify that models meet specified requirements.
  • Produce publication-quality reports that establish the foundation for simulation credibility across stakeholders and provide artifacts supporting formal simulation Verification, Validation, and Accreditation.
  • Identify and implement improvements across Modeling, Simulation, Experimentation, and Analysis products.
  • Perform operational analysis and mission-effectiveness analysis.
  • Develop new or integrate existing system simulation frameworks, performance models and algorithms, threat models, and command-and-control models.
  • Model operational environments, perform trade studies using computer simulation, and recommend alternative architectures.
  • Simulate real-time operations and develop software that simulates system behavior.
  • Develop, integrate, and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with Modeling, Experimentation, Simulation, and Analysis.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance or higher.
  • Experience developing real-time and/or reactive simulation software applications.

  • Experience with adaptive signal processing.
  • Experience with optimal estimation theory.
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering and Integration and Test processes.
  • Experience with DPC, CUDA, OpenCL, Verilog, VHDL, or other domain-specific languages.
  • Experience with Agile and/or SAFe methodologies.

About the Company

Northrop Grumman

Builds stealth bombers, missiles, and satellites

Northrop Grumman builds military aircraft, missiles, rocket motors, satellites, and electronic systems, mostly for the American military and allied governments. It designed the B-2 stealth bomber and built NASA's James Webb Space Telescope, the largest telescope ever sent to space. The company works through four businesses: aircraft, missiles and ammunition, radar and communications systems, and space hardware such as satellites and solid rocket boosters. Most revenue comes from long-term government contracts, many of them classified. Its roots go back to Northrop Aircraft, founded in 1939, and it took its name after buying Grumman in 1994 and is based in Falls Church, Virginia.
