Requirements
  • The candidate must be a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Board Eligible Medical Dosimetrist and must become certified within two years.
  • The candidate must demonstrate advanced teamwork skills.
  • The candidate must understand the technical aspects of radiation oncology and medical physics to derive computerized treatment plans and communicate these aspects to the Radiation Oncologist for plan approval and the Radiation Therapist for plan implementation.
  • The candidate must perform routine duties independently of supervision and consult with the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist as required.
  • The candidate must have working knowledge of radiation safety and current Nuclear Regulatory Commission rules and regulations.
  • The candidate must be able to interpret and execute treatment plans as defined in relevant treatment protocols.
  • The candidate must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Responsibilities
  • The Medical Dosimetrist works directly with the Medical Physicist as a member of the Treatment Planning Team.
  • The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for all dosimetry performed on radiation oncology patients under the supervision and medical authority of the Radiation Oncologists.
  • The Medical Dosimetrist is responsible for the technical supervision, coordination, and quality assurance of the dosimetry division of the radiation oncology department.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certification as a Medical Dosimetrist with a minimum of three years of experience in Radiation Oncology, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy treatment planning.
