About the Job

Requirements

  • In-depth, senior-level experience at Director, Senior Director, or Head-of level in program, implementation, delivery, or utility-transformation leadership.
  • Direct, deep experience in grid modernisation programs and a strong understanding of Demand Response, distributed energy resources (DERs), virtual power plants (VPPs), distributed energy resource management systems (DERMS), advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), and grid operations.
  • Proven experience managing regulated US electric-utility stakeholders and navigating utility operational and control-room environments.
  • Recent end-to-end ownership of a complex grid program, including planning, governance, and cross-functional execution, with direct responsibility for core project management rather than delegation to a separate PMO layer.
  • A clear history of commercial or solution ownership, P&L exposure, or value-realisation accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the program from day one through implementation and into long-term value realisation, directly managing delivery timelines, decision-making, coordination, and execution.
  • Produce necessary documentation, artefacts, and assets, and bridge functional gaps as they emerge to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Build credibility with a highly regulated major US electric utility, deepen existing relationships, identify and develop new relationships across the organization, and navigate its complex operational layers.
  • Align product, engineering/technology, delivery, and customer-facing teams, and use influence to steer product and delivery trade-offs despite having no product team reporting directly to the role.
  • Own commercial outcomes alongside delivery, including the business case, value realization, customer expansion, and revenue linkage.

Desired Qualifications

  • Based on the US East Coast, with specific exposure to Virginia, the Mid-Atlantic, or broader East Coast utility ecosystems.
  • Experience leading grid-side flexibility work targeting specific physical or locational grid constraints rather than bulk-system or generic programs.
  • Recognized credibility in the US utility or flexibility ecosystem.

About the Company

Kraken Technologies

Cloud-based DERMS enabling real-time energy trading

KrakenFlex provides a cloud-based DERMS that lets asset owners, energy traders, and retailers monitor and control distributed energy resources in real time. It connects to a wide range of DERs—from storage and generation facilities to residential devices and electric vehicles—and optimizes their output to participate in ancillary and wholesale markets. The product is offered as software-as-a-service (SaaS) with subscription fees (and possibly transaction-based fees for market activities) and is designed for sub-second response times with comprehensive monitoring. Its goal is to help clients maximize value from their energy assets by coordinating DERs across multiple markets from a single platform.
