  • 10+ years of relevant IT experience, including substantial experience in systems analysis, solution design and enterprise application delivery.
  • Demonstrated Salesforce expertise, including Service Cloud case management, data modeling, security and access controls, and translating business requirements into scalable platform solutions.
  • Demonstrated practical experience designing, prototyping or delivering Generative AI solutions for business use cases, beyond personal use of AI tools. Ability to assess feasibility, evaluate output quality and define data protection, responsible AI and human-review requirements.
  • Working technical knowledge of Apex, Salesforce Flow, Lightning Web Components and application programming interface-based integrations, sufficient to evaluate solution options, review partner designs and troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery and release governance, including version control, environment promotion, testing and quality gates, deployment planning and rollback readiness.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead medium-to-large, multi-team delivery initiatives and own major and minor enhancements end to end, coordinating business stakeholders and third-party delivery partners.
  • Strong systems analysis skills, including requirements elicitation, process mapping, fit-gap analysis, user stories, acceptance criteria and user acceptance testing coordination, supported by sound knowledge of software design, data modeling and integration principles.
  • Ability to create clear solution artifacts and rapid proofs of concept, using prototypes, personas or journey maps where appropriate to validate business needs and design decisions.
  • Relevant Salesforce certifications, such as Administrator, Platform App Builder, Platform Developer or Service Cloud Consultant.
  • Experience with Salesforce AI capabilities and Agentforce, including assessing appropriate use cases and designing controlled, measurable solutions.
  • Order management domain experience, particularly machine sales and distribution, product configuration, order entry or Sales & Operations Planning.

  • Experience applying Generative AI, machine learning or other AI technologies in production, including evaluation, monitoring and operational support.
  • Experience spanning multiple business processes, organizations or IT disciplines, with accountability, planning, organization, teamwork and customer focus.
  • Strong interpersonal judgment in sensitive or potentially controversial situations, and the ability to manage competing priorities under time constraints.
Responsibilities
  • Lead enhancements from discovery through deployment and post-release support, connecting business priorities with sound solution design and coordinated partner delivery.
  • Elicit requirements, analyze current and future business processes, and document user stories, acceptance criteria and non-functional requirements. Conduct fit-gap analysis and maintain traceability from business needs through testing and delivery.
  • Lead business case analysis and phased product planning. Prioritize major and minor enhancements by business value, risk and dependencies, and agree scope and success measures with stakeholders.
  • Design and review Salesforce solutions, including Service Cloud case workflows, data models, access controls and integrations. Evaluate configuration versus customization and the appropriate use of Flow, Apex and Lightning Web Components.
  • Evaluate additional Salesforce modules such as Manufacturing Cloud and Revenue Cloud for opportunities to reduce custom solutions and lean into software-as-a-service investment.
  • Coordinate business teams and third-party delivery partners across the enhancement lifecycle. Review estimates, design proposals and implementation quality; manage dependencies, risks and decisions, and communicate delivery progress.
  • Define test strategy and coordinate functional, integration and regression testing, user acceptance testing and defect resolution. Confirm that delivered solutions satisfy acceptance criteria, security requirements and operational needs.
  • Govern continuous integration/continuous delivery and release activities with delivery partners, including version control, environment promotion, quality gates, deployment readiness and rollback planning. Coordinate production deployment, hypercare and transition to support.
  • Assess practical Generative AI and agentic AI use cases and guide proofs of concept toward delivery where business value is demonstrated. Define evaluation criteria, data-security safeguards, responsible AI controls and human oversight with relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead solution and integration reviews across Salesforce and connected enterprise systems. Apply reusable patterns, document design trade-offs and ensure maintainability, performance and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Maintain clear process, solution and support documentation. Enable user adoption, develop repeatable process improvements and assess post-release outcomes against agreed business measures.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex application and escalated business-process issues with business and delivery partners, including periodic off-shift and weekend support.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.

About the company

Caterpillar makes construction and mining machines, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and locomotives for contractors, mines, energy companies and data center builders. It is the world's largest maker of construction and mining equipment, and its yellow Cat bulldozers and excavators work in nearly every country. Customers buy or rent machines through independent Cat dealers, while its engines and turbines generate electricity and push natural gas through pipelines. Caterpillar earns money from equipment sales and from the parts and repairs that dealers supply over a machine's working life. It was formed in 1925 when California's Holt and Best tractor companies merged, and it is based in Irving, Texas.

What believers are saying

  • Data centers drive growth: power generation sales jumped 72% in the June 2026 quarter on demand for generators and turbines.
  • Factory hiring is growing: a $1 billion North Carolina plant, announced September 2026, is expected to create 1,950 jobs.
  • Recurring service work adds stability: parts and service brought in $24 billion in 2025, over a third of sales.

What critics are saying

  • Tariffs keep getting costlier: in August 2026, Caterpillar forecast $2.2 billion of 2026 tariff costs, up from 2025's $1.8 billion.
  • Patent fight threatens imports: in December 2025, rival Bobcat asked US trade regulators to ban some Cat loaders and excavators.
  • Expect five office days a week: since June 2025, US office staff must come in daily, and attendance affects reviews.

What makes Caterpillar unique

  • Power, not bulldozers, is its biggest business: engines and turbines brought in $28.6 billion in 2025, topping construction's $25.1 billion.
  • It runs its own lender: Cat Financial's overdue loans fell to 1.31% in June 2026, the lowest since 1998.
  • It also makes gas turbines: San Diego-based Solar Turbines builds 1 to 39 megawatt units for pipelines and power.

Tokenized stock trading surges overseas to $11.31B on Robinhood Chain as Goldman, Microsoft object in US

Tokenized stock trading is growing overseas while major US companies resist it at home, according to Bitwise Asset Management's latest quarterly report. On Robinhood Chain, tokenized stock volume rose from $526 million in July to $2.21 billion in August, then to $11.31 billion in September. Tokenized equities were also the fastest-growing category on Solana. Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, McDonald's, Western Digital, and Alphabet have objected to tokenized versions of their shares trading on OKXICE, a venue launched by crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. Sixteen companies have now objected. The US Securities and Exchange Commission's innovation exemption lets companies opt out. OKXICE co-chairman Andrew Cuomo said many companies would "wait and see" before taking part.

Caterpillar's $72B backlog tests data centre power boom as stock trades at 33.9 times earnings

Caterpillar's shares trade at 33.9 times earnings, against 21.9 for the S&P 500. A concern raised on its August 4, 2026 earnings call is that data centres may slow their orders for its power equipment in a few years. Power generation sales to end users rose 72% in the second quarter, driven by demand for large gensets and turbines. Management said no customer is slowing down. Power & Energy, its largest segment, had $32.2 billion in revenue in fiscal 2025, up 11.6%, and $8.2 billion in the latest quarter, up 17%. Some customers are ordering as far out as 2030. Backlog stood at $72 billion, with 59% due for delivery within twelve months. The stock is down 24.8% from its 52-week high but returned 61% over the past year.

Caterpillar hits record $20B quarter while Corning targets $40B by 2030

Investors weighing Caterpillar against Corning are choosing between industrial infrastructure and technological innovation. Caterpillar, a construction and mining equipment manufacturer, generated $67.6 billion in revenue in FY 2025, up 4.3%, though net income fell to $8.9 billion from $10.8 billion the previous year. Corning, a materials science company supplying optical communications and display technologies, posted stronger growth. Its FY 2025 revenue reached $15.6 billion, up 19.1%, whilst net income surged to $1.6 billion from $506 million. The company secured a multi-billion-dollar supply agreement with AT&T extending through 2030. Caterpillar trades at a forward P/E of 30.0x versus Corning's 49.7x, reflecting Corning's faster growth trajectory. Corning's optical communications business grew over 30% year-over-year, driven by AI data centre demand, with ambitious revenue targets of $20 billion by end-2026 and $40 billion by 2030. Despite Caterpillar's record backlog and reliable dividend, Corning's AI infrastructure exposure offers more compelling growth potential for patient investors.
