About the job

Requirements
  • The candidate must have 3–5 years of professional visual or brand design experience, ideally including in-house experience at a brand-led company or agency/studio experience in identity and brand systems work.
  • The candidate must have a portfolio demonstrating range across digital and print, including projects owned from concept through print production.
  • The candidate must demonstrate sensitivity to typography, layout, and information hierarchy, including making dense technical content legible and scannable.
  • The candidate must be able to work within and extend an existing brand system, knowing when to follow guidelines and when to complement them.
  • The candidate must be fluent in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, including at minimum InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, and be comfortable preparing files for print.
  • The candidate must have production skills in bleeds, trims, color profiles, paper stocks, and finishing, and be able to specify production jobs correctly.
  • The candidate must be comfortable working autonomously, scoping their own work, running multiple parallel projects, and shipping without close oversight.
  • The candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills to present work, defend choices, and bring stakeholders along.
Responsibilities
  • Own the visual execution of the Firefly brand across print and digital, including tradeshow graphics and environmental design, printed handouts and one-pagers, installation and product guides, sales and investor decks, packaging graphics, event collateral, and other company materials.
  • Partner with marketing, sales, product, and operations to translate briefs into finished, on-brand artifacts, bringing design judgment on typography, layout, and information hierarchy from kickoff through print-ready files.
  • Evolve the brand system by refining and extending guidelines, building templates and components, and making decisions that shape how the brand appears.
  • Manage production end-to-end with prepress, print vendors, large-format and signage fabricators, and packaging suppliers, and own quality from first proof through delivery.
  • Design content-dense materials such as installation guides, product guides, and technical handouts, ensuring clear hierarchy and legibility.
  • Design functional surfaces including packaging, installation guides, and signage for the environments where they are used.
  • Maintain a shared library of assets, templates, and source files so the company can work efficiently while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Set the visual craft standard as the company scales.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing for tradeshows, conferences, or environmental and spatial brand applications.
  • Packaging design experience, including dielines and direct work with packaging vendors.
  • Experience designing technical documentation, instruction guides, or other information-dense print collateral.
  • Motion or basic animation skills using After Effects, Rive, or similar tools.
  • Illustration or icon-system design experience.
  • Experience at a hardware, Internet of Things, or other product company where the brand appears on physical objects as well as screens.
  • Exposure to hospitality, healthcare, education, public safety, or other regulated or trust-driven markets.

About the company

Firefly sells a safety and emergency response platform to schools, hospitals, hotels, retailers, and workplaces, combining cloud software with connected hardware. Its Ember application handles site mapping, asset and people management, mass communication, roll call, response workflows, EMS integration, and an AI response agent, while its Emergency Readiness Suite adds panic buttons, detection devices, and noise analysis. Staff write response protocols in plain English instead of configuring rules, and the company says a site can be operational within 24 hours of onboarding. Unlike the disconnected alarm, camera, and notification systems most buildings run, it puts detection and coordinated response in one place. Its goal is to shorten response times by giving every site a single operating picture during an incident.
