- A current New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Diagnostic Radiography license and current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification, or eligibility for American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification.
- If American Registry of Radiologic Technologists eligible, attain certification within one year of employment and maintain it throughout employment.
- Two years of experience in Diagnostic Radiology.
- Computer literacy.
- Maintain valid American Heart Association certification in Basic Life Support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Pass a medical evaluation and respirator fit test, and wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask in accordance with PEOSHA standards as a condition of employment.
- Complete annual respirator fit testing.
- Certification in the service to which the candidate is applying: magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, or angiography.
- Explain examinations to patients according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation, minimize anxiety, and optimize desired results.
- Position, immobilize, and image patients according to approved departmental protocols and equipment capabilities to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability.
- Select appropriate pulsing sequences while respecting established protocols and factors influencing acquisition parameters.
- Determine proper and satisfactory radiographic technique exposure factors.
- Verify informed consent where required.
- Scan and access patient records through the Radiology Information System and Picture Archiving and Communication System.
- Access images for review on the consoles of the computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and interventional suites, as well as from the Picture Archiving and Communication System.
- Corroborate the patient’s clinical history with the procedure and ensure the information is documented.
- Prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Independently operate and care for imaging equipment and associated technical instruments used for contrast administration, patient monitoring, and surgical procedures.
- Select appropriate programs while respecting established protocols and factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
- Provide radiology services, including X-ray, magnetic resonance, and computer-processing techniques, for inpatients and outpatients.
- Perform radiographic procedures to demonstrate vascular structures for interpretation or therapeutic intervention by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner.
- Perform procedures in compliance with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection standards and the principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable.
