About the job
- Prior directional drill locating experience is required.
- Experience locating for Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crews is required.
- Experience using walkover locating systems is required.
- Experience tracking drill heads and communicating bore path information is required.
- Knowledge of underground utility construction practices is required.
- Experience identifying and protecting existing underground utilities is required.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Ability to join the union as a condition of employment is required.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background screening is required.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk uneven, rough terrain for extended periods is required.
- Ability to accurately record bore data and depth information is required.
- Track and locate drill heads during HDD operations.
- Operate walkover locating systems.
- Communicate bore path information to drill operators in real time.
- Monitor drill depth and location accuracy.
- Locate and identify underground utilities, and prevent utility conflicts and underground damage.
- Record bore data and depth information.

- Follow safety protocols and utility construction standards.
- Work closely with HDD crews and field supervisors.
