About the company

C3.ai builds software that large companies and government agencies use to create and run AI applications, and it sells ready-made AI apps for industries such as manufacturing, energy, and defense. When it listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2020 under the ticker AI, its shares more than doubled on the first day. Its platform pulls data from business systems and equipment sensors into one shared model, and its apps predict machine failures, plan inventory, and schedule production. Customers pay mainly through subscriptions, and its C3 Code tool builds apps from plain-English requests. Tom Siebel, who earlier founded Siebel Systems and sold it to Oracle, started C3.ai in 2009, and it is based in Redwood City, California.

C3.ai upgraded to "Outperform" by Northland with $16 target on new C3 Code growth engine

C3.ai shares edged higher on October 12 after Northland Capital upgraded the enterprise software company to "Outperform" and raised its price target to $16. That implies upside of more than 40% on the previous close. The shares already trade about 53% above their year-to-date low. Analyst Michael Latimore points to C3 Code, a new platform he believes can cut the development of agentic AI applications from months to days. Users describe an application in plain language, and autonomous agents do the building. He also cited the company's Accelerator marketing program. Its first event drew 110 participants from 46 companies, and three more have followed. Other analysts are more cautious. The consensus rating is "Hold," with a mean price target of about $8.9.

Velotic appoints former C3 AI President and Chief Product Officer Houman Behzadi to its Board of Directors as it builds out Industrial Intelligence.

Velotic appoints former C3 AI President and Chief Product Officer Houman Behzadi to its Board of Directors as it builds out Industrial Intelligence. 5 hours ago Velotic has appointed Houman Behzadi, former President and Chief Product Officer at C3 AI, to its Board of Directors. Velotic has announced that Houman Behzadi has joined its Board of Directors. With more than two decades of enterprise software leadership, Behzadi brings deep experience of taking AI from technology into enterprise deployment. That experience will support Velotic as it builds on its proven industrial software foundation and advances its vision for Industrial Intelligence. Behzadi was President and Chief Product Officer at C3 AI, where he helped build and scale the company from its early stages through its initial public offering in 2020. He joined in 2010, initially focused on scaling its product and engineering organisations before taking on broader responsibilities across the company. During his time there, C3 AI developed its enterprise AI platform and a portfolio of prebuilt applications for complex operational challenges across industries, including equipment reliability, supply chain optimisation and energy management. Earlier in his career, he held product and software leadership roles at Siebel Systems and Oracle, and he is a named inventor on multiple patents related to enterprise AI and IoT technologies. "Houman knows what it takes to turn AI from a promising demo into software that people can actually use in real-world environments," said Brian Shepherd, CEO of Velotic. "He has built products, led engineering teams and worked with large enterprises through the hard part of putting AI into production. That experience will be incredibly useful as we help customers turn Industrial Intelligence into action." "Industrial organizations already have enormous amounts of data and operational knowledge. The opportunity is to put both to work," said Behzadi. "Velotic starts with proven technology that already connects to the equipment, systems, and workflows at the heart of industrial operations. That creates a powerful foundation for turning operational context into intelligence, decisions, and action. I am excited to help the team build on that foundation." Behzadi's appointment comes as Velotic expands its industrial AI capabilities, most recently with new agentic AI capabilities released in ThingWorx in September. Velotic was formed in March 2026 by bringing together Proficy, formerly part of GE Vernova, with Kepware and ThingWorx, formerly part of PTC. The TPG-backed company generates more than $300 million in revenue and serves more than 8,000 customers across manufacturing, energy, utilities, infrastructure and other critical industries.

C3.ai bookings surge 73% and cash flow turns positive, but revenue down 25%

C3.ai reported mixed fiscal first-quarter results, with revenue of $52.4 million falling 25% year-over-year but landing within guidance. Subscription revenue comprised 94% of total revenue at $49.2 million. The quarter showed encouraging signs. Bookings surged 73% sequentially, the company signed 22 agreements, and free cash flow turned positive at $2.1 million versus negative $34.3 million last year. Non-GAAP operating loss narrowed 33% sequentially to $36.2 million. However, challenges remain. GAAP gross margin stood at just 32%, and the company posted a $92.8 million GAAP net loss. Management maintained full-year revenue guidance of $210 million to $240 million, suggesting no quick return to prior growth levels. Hedge fund holdings increased modestly, with 29 funds holding shares in Q2 versus 25 in Q1. Short interest remains high at 42.14% of float.

C3.ai narrows losses, posts Q1 earnings beat amid revenue decline.

C3.ai narrows losses, posts Q1 earnings beat amid revenue decline. The enterprise AI company delivered positive free cash flow for the first time, but a 25% revenue drop year-over-year kept investors cautious after hours. 2 hours ago Sponsored: CoW Swap - Swap Without Paying Gas Swap Now! C3.ai managed to beat Wall Street estimates on both the top and bottom lines for its fiscal first quarter, narrowing its losses and flipping free cash flow positive for the first time in the company's public history. The reward for all that progress? Shares trading below $10 in after-hours action. The enterprise AI software company reported total revenue of $52.4 million for the quarter ending July 31, 2026, edging past analyst consensus expectations that ranged between $52.0 million and $52.3 million. The catch: that figure represents a steep decline from the $70.3 million C3.ai pulled in during the same quarter a year ago, a roughly 25% drop that no amount of earnings-beat confetti can fully obscure. The numbers behind the narrowing losses. On the profitability front, the picture was more encouraging. C3.ai's non-GAAP operating loss came in at $36.2 million, which beat the company's own guidance midpoint by $8.3 million. Non-GAAP net loss per share landed at $0.20, compared to a consensus estimate of $0.25. The standout metric was free cash flow, which turned positive at $2.1 million. For context, C3.ai burned through $34.3 million in the year-ago quarter. Going from negative $34.3 million to positive $2.1 million in twelve months is a $36.4 million swing. The company's recent restructuring slashed headcount by approximately 40%, projecting annualized cost savings of around $135 million. The company's balance sheet remains healthy, with $651.1 million in cash. Bookings surge paints a different picture than revenue. Perhaps the most compelling data point in the entire report: bookings surged 73% quarter-over-quarter. The company closed 22 enterprise agreements during the period, including deals with Ford, Johnson & Johnson, and multiple US federal agencies. Federal bookings specifically grew 138% year-over-year. The disconnect between surging bookings and declining revenue is worth understanding. Enterprise software deals, particularly large ones with government agencies, often take quarters to ramp into recognized revenue. A deal signed in Q1 might not show up meaningfully on the income statement until Q3 or Q4. What the guidance says about the road ahead. C3.ai set Q2 FY2027 revenue expectations between $51 million and $55 million. For the full fiscal year 2027, the company projected total revenue between $210 million and $240 million. Shares of C3.ai closed at $10.52 on September 2, 2026, before sliding lower in after-hours trading to below $10. Disclosure: This article was edited by Editorial Team. C3.ai reported second-quarter revenue of $52.38 million, meeting analyst expectations but marking a 25.5% year-on-year decline. The enterprise AI software company posted a non-GAAP loss of $0.20 per share, better than the $0.26 loss analysts anticipated. The company's guidance disappointed investors, with projected third-quarter revenue of $53 million falling 8% below analyst estimates. Over the past two years, C3.ai's revenue has fallen 15.5% annually, reversing earlier growth. Operating margin declined to negative 188% from negative 178% in the prior-year quarter.
