About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience building and shipping production software across the stack.
  • Strong Python skills; Django experience is preferred, and the backend uses Django and Celery.
  • Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, query performance, and production database migrations.
  • Practical time-series experience; TimescaleDB is ideal, and deep experience with another time-series or high-volume streaming store is transferable.
  • Solid React and TypeScript skills, with the judgment to keep a data-heavy interface fast.
  • Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems, such as task queues, pub/sub, streaming, or WebSockets.
  • Comfort working on AWS; the platform uses ECS Fargate, RDS, ElastiCache, and IoT Core.
  • Ability to work independently, define scope from rough requirements, and ship.
Responsibilities
  • Build operator-facing Neuron features in React and TypeScript, including real-time dashboards, alerting, alarm and ticket workflows, capacity-planning views, and power-flow visualizations.
  • Build interfaces for the AI teammate, including interaction panels, recommendation displays, approval workflows, and audit trails.
  • Keep large, data-dense views fast and responsive across devices.
  • Build and maintain the telemetry ingestion path from customer sites, including edge collectors, MQTT over AWS IoT Core, queue-based workers, and normalization into a canonical metric model.
  • Write integration modules for building and power systems, including Siemens Desigo, Schneider PME and EcoStruxure, Niagara, Eaton, and generic BACnet, Modbus, and SNMP sources.
  • Ensure correctness of ingested data, including point mapping, unit and phase semantics, deduplication, and backfill.
  • Develop against PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB, including hypertables, continuous aggregates, compression, and retention.
  • Design schemas and migrations that remain safe as tables grow into billions of rows.
  • Find and fix performance problems that emerge at real customer data volumes.
  • Write tested and reviewed code, and contribute to CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Troubleshoot production issues across the stack and share on-call as the platform scales.
Desired Qualifications
  • Industrial or IoT telemetry experience, including BMS, EPMS, DCIM, SCADA, or similar operational technology data sources.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, or vendor BMS APIs.
  • Familiarity with data center infrastructure, including power distribution topology, UPS and PDU behavior, or PUE.
  • Experience building commercial or internal observability or monitoring products.
  • Early-stage startup experience from Seed through Series B.

About the company

Chemix.ai uses artificial intelligence to transform EV battery design by offering an AI-powered platform as a service to battery manufacturers. The platform is trained on a large dataset to predict how design changes affect performance, and it automates the battery development process. It evaluates metrics such as cycle life, heat generation, rate capability, and safety across diverse use cases, streamlining design and testing to create higher-performing, more sustainable batteries. Its approach differentiates it from competitors by delivering data-driven, end-to-end design automation tailored specifically to the battery industry, backed by expert leadership and industry advisors. The company’s goal is to speed up and improve the design process to produce safer, longer-lasting, and more efficient EV batteries.

What believers are saying

  • KDDI's 2026 investment validates cross-border demand from Japanese industrial buyers.
  • The 2024 $20 million Series A funded global scaling and GenAI roadmap.
  • Earlier customer prototypes and manufacturing-partner plans show progress toward commercialization.

What critics are saying

  • Chemix still depends on cell-manufacturing partners; delays push revenue beyond 2026.
  • Large incumbents like Toyota, Panasonic, and CATL can internalize battery AI workflows.
  • If MIX never reaches mass-production batteries, Chemix becomes an underused science project.

What makes Teserac unique

  • Chemix's MIX platform blends battery-specific datasets with generative AI for cell design.
  • KDDI Open Innovation Fund III invested in Chemix in August 2026.
  • Chemix pairs software with prototype batteries, unlike pure battery analytics vendors.

The Era Of Software-Defined Battery Startups Is Here

“Batteries are hard,” an expert once said.He wasn’t kidding. Designing and manufacturing pouches, slabs or cylinders filled with volatile chemicals that are capable of recharging ever more quickly is far from easy. Just ask LG, which had to pay GM nearly $2 billion for a costly manufacturing defect that saw every Chevy Bolt recalled. It gets even harder when you consider the realm of possibilities. There’s a range of materials that can store electrons and tweaking their amounts only expands the number of combinations.“Whenever you have a new battery that needs to be designed, there’s a huge design space, almost limitless design space,” Kaixiang Lin, co-founder and CEO of Chemix, told TechCrunch+.Years ago, new battery types were discovered by chemists laboring away at benches, testing different combinations. They were guided by an in-depth understanding of electrochemistry, decades of previous research and a hefty amount of intuition. They made great strides relying on that combination

Chemix Brings Transformative Ai Technologies To Ev Battery Industry, Launching The First Ai-Designed Battery In 2023

Chemix has developed MIX™, a battery-specific AI-powered design platform, to accelerate its electric vehicle (EV) battery development process by 10x over conventional approaches.Trained on Chemix's proprietary high-quality and high-diversity datasets, MIX leverages the world's most advanced AI algorithms, demonstrating record model performance metrics. With MIX, Chemix has developed a wide variety of high-performance EV battery chemistries, significantly reducing reliance on cobalt and nickel.Founded by advanced battery development and AI/ML experts from Harvard, Stanford, and UC Berkeley, the company has raised $10M+ in early-stage funding led by Mayfield Fund, Radical Ventures, and Ibex Investors to scale operations.Sunnyvale, CA — (May 2, 2023 ) — Chemix, the startup leveraging AI to rapidly build high-performance and environmentally sustainable EV batteries, today unveiled MIX™, its AI-powered design platform specifically developed to accelerate the commercialization of next-generation EV batteries. By leveraging MIX, Chemix is poised to revolutionize the decades-old EV battery industry, similar to how AI has transformed drug discovery by accelerating pharmaceutical research and development. This will enable the pace of battery innovation to finally catch up with the ever-growing demand for better-performing, safer, and more sustainable EV batteries.A battery is to an electric vehicle what a processor is to a computer – a critical technical component determining the entire system's performance. Despite this central importance, the approach researchers have used to develop new battery materials and systems has remained largely unchanged for decades – until now. As opposed to the conventional method that relies on time- and labor-intensive processes for battery development and testing, Chemix adopts a revolutionary AI-based approach. This accelerates the discovery of the best battery materials, formulations, and recipes by leveraging large proprietary experimental datasets and cutting-edge proprietary algorithms
