Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in human services, business, compliance, or a related field and three years of experience providing services, oversight, and support, preferably in education, healthcare, social services, and/or with the I/DD population as applicable to assigned settings; or a satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Complete formal internal reviews and specialized risk assessments for YAI Network affiliate agencies MSA and iHOPE or other assigned programs at least annually and provide feedback on findings.
  • Provide on-site support during external audits and surveys.
  • Support leadership in identifying and mitigating quality and compliance risks and identifying opportunities for training and staff development.
  • Participate in planning meetings for the development of new sites and programs, providing person-centered quality feedback and ensuring consideration of applicable regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between applicable leadership and oversight entities or external agency staff as needed.
  • Assist program leadership with developing Plans of Corrective Action in response to external audit findings and complete follow-up visits to ensure implementation.
  • Use education and internal auditing to ensure programs deliver individualized services, protect the rights, health, and safety of supported people, and comply with applicable regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support regarding reportable incidents, occurrences, compliance, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act concerns.
  • Provide guidance on and monitor compliance with applicable incident-reporting requirements, including New York State Education Department and Division of Developmental Disabilities requirements, for substantiated abuse and neglect allegations.
  • Serve as the primary investigator for incidents and sensitive situations in assigned settings by collecting information from multiple sources and ensuring investigations are completed thoroughly and timely in accordance with regulations and internal standards.
  • Write and submit complete investigative reports for review by the appropriate Incident Review Committee.
  • Maintain an incident-tracking system and perform data analysis on investigations, incident-classification trends, and substantiated or founded incidents.
  • Participate in agencywide Incident Review, Human Rights, Informed Consent, and Policy Committees and chair committees when requested or appropriate.
  • Complete billing or other audits, including recurring audits, and provide feedback on findings.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in human services, business, compliance, or a related field.
  • Experience completing audits and/or reviews of internal systems to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Previous experience conducting investigations in education and/or social service settings, based on assigned settings.
  • Knowledge of state, local, and regulatory agency rules and regulations applicable to assigned settings, including New York State Education Department, New York City Department of Education, New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities, and the National Center for START Services.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance or related training or certification.
  • Successful completion of investigator training and/or related certification.
