Ocon confirms he will leave Haas at end of 2026 season. Esteban Ocon and Haas will go their separate ways when the current F1 campaign concludes. Sep 30, 2026 8:04am UTC (57 minutes ago) Esteban Ocon has announced that he is to leave Haas at the end of the 2026 campaign, following weeks of speculation over the Frenchman's F1 future. Ocon joined Haas from Alpine for 2025, joining forces with Ferrari-backed rookie Ollie Bearman and continuing alongside the Briton through the current campaign. He has scored 12 points finishes across 39 Grands Prix with the team so far, including a best result of fifth in China last year - his second event at Haas. On Wednesday, ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, Ocon took to social media to confirm his Haas departure, with no word yet on what he will do next. "My time with Haas F1 Team will come to an end at the end of the 2026 season," read a statement posted by Ocon. "I leave this project with my head held high and proud of my performances in what were not always the easiest of circumstances for various reasons and factors outside of my control. "My immediate focus is the next race weekend. I will continue to work hard with the team, maximise every opportunity, and keep extracting every bit of performance from the car. "There are still many races to go this season and, as always, I will give it my everything behind the wheel for myself and for my team." He signed off: "I am still motivated. I am still hungry. This is absolutely not the end of my Formula 1 career." Following Ocon's post, Haas released a statement of their own, including comments from Team Principal Ayao Komatsu - while noting that they will not be sharing further driver-related news "at this time". "I'd like to thank Esteban for everything he's contributed to the team since joining us in 2025," said Komatsu. "His professionalism and commitment have proved valuable as Formula 1 continue to grow as an organisation. "Together this year Formula 1 tackled the challenge of a major regulation change, where Esteban's driving experience and inputs were significant as Formula 1 has worked hard to develop the VF-26 across the season. "There's still plenty of racing ahead, and our focus remains on working together to maximise every opportunity through to the final race of the year." Ferrari junior and FIA Formula 2 championship leader Rafael Camara is the favourite to take Ocon's seat, after facing competition from the likes of McLaren reserve driver Leo Fornaroli and Haas reserves Jack Doohan and Ryo Hirakawa.
F1 Sim Racing 2027 still unannounced despite record 2026 growth. September 29, 2026 Formula 1 has yet to publicly announce the 2027 F1 Sim Racing World Championship, despite ending its 2026 season with significant audience growth, a $750,000 prize pool and statements from competitors already looking ahead to next year. As of September 29, Formula 1's official Sim Racing channels remain focused on the completed 2026 championship and other current initiatives, with no 2027 calendar, team list or format announced. Simracing latest videos. That does not mean F1 Sim Racing has been cancelled. Formula 1 has made no such announcement, and there is currently no official confirmation that the World Championship is being discontinued or sold. What can be established from Formula 1 and the teams themselves is that the 2026 championship performed strongly by several measurable standards, while public details about its successor remain absent. F1 Sim Racing recorded major growth in 2026. The 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship featured nine Formula 1 teams competing over 12 rounds spread across four live events. Each team named a three-driver roster, while two drivers represented the team at each round, with the championship offering a total prize pool of $750,000. The season began at DreamHack Birmingham in March before moving to Formula 1's Media and Technology Centre in Biggin Hill for the remaining three events. Formula 1 had invested in a dedicated multi-purpose sim racing studio at the facility, placing the championship directly inside one of the organisation's main operational centres rather than relying entirely on external esports venues. Formula 1's own figures also show substantial audience growth. Its 2026 half-year review reported nearly 13 million live viewers across YouTube, Twitch and Facebook for the championship, representing a 72% increase compared with 2025. Social reach was considerably larger. Formula 1 reported 269 million social media views related to the championship, including 84 million social video views during the year. The opening DreamHack event alone attracted more than 3.9 million live viewers across its three races, compared with 2.1 million for the equivalent opening event in 2025, an increase of 85%. DreamHack Birmingham itself welcomed more than 50,000 people across the weekend. While that figure represents attendance at the wider festival rather than an audience exclusively attending F1 Sim Racing, it also gave the championship a physical presence in front of a large gaming and esports crowd before the series moved to Formula 1's own facility. Formula 1 was still talking about the future in May. There were few indications at the end of the 2026 season that Formula 1 was preparing to abandon the championship. When the finale concluded on May 28, Red Bull secured the Teams' Championship with 227 points, only three ahead of Alpine, while Otis Lawrence won the Drivers' Championship for Alpine with 156 points, two ahead of Ferrari's Ismael Fahssi. More importantly for the future of the competition, participants were already discussing 2027 in Formula 1's own championship communication. Red Bull Sim Racing Esports Lead Morgan Ashurst said the team would turn its attention towards the 2027 season, while Lawrence said he was looking forward to returning the following year to defend his title. There was also commercial evidence pointing towards another season. On May 14, McLaren Racing announced a multi-year technology partnership with Intel that included the McLaren F1 Sim Racing Team. McLaren specifically stated that Intel branding would appear on its on-stage simulators during the final 2026 event and, crucially, on the team's virtual livery from the 2027 season. Formula 1's sim racing commercial programme was also active elsewhere in 2026. Fanatec renewed its global licensing partnership with Formula 1 under a multi-year agreement and remained the Official Sponsor and Hardware Partner of the F1 Sim Racing World Championship, supplying the simulators used by teams and drivers during the season. Aramco continued as Presenting Partner, AWS remained an Official Sponsor and Lenovo Legion joined the championship as Official Technology Provider. But F1 Sim Racing 2027 has still not been announced. This is where the current situation becomes notable. Four months after the 2026 finale, Formula 1 has still not publicly detailed a 2027 F1 Sim Racing World Championship. Its official F1 Sim Racing page continues to present information about the completed 2026 World Championship and the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026, but there is currently no published 2027 calendar, format, participating team list or launch date. That absence should not be interpreted as confirmation that the championship is ending. There has been no official Formula 1 statement cancelling F1 Sim Racing, and no official announcement confirming that the championship has been sold. Likewise, speculation surrounding individual Formula 1 teams should remain separate from confirmed information until those teams or Formula 1 make their plans public. McLaren's own official material remains particularly relevant because its Intel announcement explicitly referred to a 2027 virtual livery. Williams also continues to operate its Williams Gaming programme, describing esports and high-performance sim racing as part of its current activities. Neither of those facts guarantees participation in a future F1 championship, but they underline the distinction between the wider sim racing programmes operated by Formula 1 teams and the status of the F1 Sim Racing World Championship itself. Record numbers make the uncertainty more significant. If Formula 1 ultimately changes the format or direction of its official esports programme, it would follow a season that appeared healthy according to Formula 1's own published metrics. A 72% year-on-year increase in live viewers, nearly 13 million live viewers in total, 269 million social views and continued investment in dedicated infrastructure are not figures normally associated with a championship that had simply stopped attracting an audience. At the same time, esports audience numbers alone do not determine whether a professional championship is commercially sustainable. Production costs, team participation, sponsorship agreements, game development cycles and Formula 1's wider digital strategy can all influence what happens next. Formula 1 has not publicly detailed those considerations for 2027. For now, the confirmed position is therefore straightforward: the 2026 F1 Sim Racing World Championship concluded successfully in May, Formula 1 subsequently highlighted significant audience growth, and competitors and commercial partners had already referenced 2027. As of September 29, however, the next World Championship has not been publicly unveiled. Until Formula 1 or the participating teams provide further information, claims that F1 Sim Racing has been cancelled, sold or definitively abandoned remain unconfirmed. See you on the track! Domenicali honoured at esteemed Atlantic Council Global Citizen Awards. Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, has received a Global Citizen Award from the Atlantic Council. Sep 24, 2026 9:09am UTC (5 hours ago) Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, has been honoured at the Atlantic Council Global Citizen Awards, with the body recognising the impact of his leadership beyond the race track. Established in 2010, the awards identify individuals whose governance and contributions embody global citizenship and help inspire others to contribute to a better world, working across a wide variety of industries and professions. The acknowledgement of his achievements not only includes the expansion of F1 into a global cultural force, but also his continued efforts to connect fans across borders and uplift new generations. Domenicali joined President of Finland Alexander Stubb, Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, and award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo in receiving the honour in a ceremony held during UN Assembly Week in New York. He was welcomed with a montage of messages of congratulations from those close to him, including F1 actor Brad Pitt, tennis player Jannik Sinner and His Serene Highness, Prince Albert II of Monaco. "To begin the evening with messages from friends I hold so dear was a truly wonderful surprise," Domenicali said when he took to the stage, having been handed the award by actor and motorsport fan Keanu Reeves. "I thank them for their words, their affection and above all, for choosing to share this moment even from afar. As you can imagine, receiving the Global Citizen Award is a great honour for me, and I accept it with gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. "Being here alongside individuals who, through different journeys and experiences, have each contributed to society carries special meaning for me. I spent my entire professional life in sport and it has taught me one very simple lesson - it is possible to compete at the highest level without ever losing respect for others. "Formula 1 live in a complex time - a time in which differences too often become distances, and distances become divisions. I believe that sport can remind Formula 1 of something very simple. Formula 1 can be different. Formula 1 can compete. Formula 1 can even be rivals and choose to recognise and respect one another. I have the privilege of witnessing this almost every weekend in Formula 1. "When I step in its paddock, I see a small world - thousands of people arriving from every corner of the planet. They speak different languages and come from different cultures, histories and perspectives. Each brings their own colours, their own enthusiasm and naturally, their desire to win. "Then the engines start. On the track, competition becomes intense. Drivers push themselves and their cars to the limit while teams work for months, sometimes years, to find a few hundredths of a second. There are victories and defeats, rivalries and challenges. "In the grandstands, fans come from all over the world. They support different drivers and teams, and experience the race in their own way. Yet, when the lights go out, millions of people share the same emotion at the very same moment. "To me, this is one of the most beautiful aspects of sport. Competition does not have to drive people apart. At its best, it can do exactly the opposite - it can bring people together."
Formula 1 News: Barrichello still driven by 'speed and smell of gasoline' (GMM) Rubens Barrichello (pictured with Max Verstappen in 2019) says his appetite for racing remains intact at 54 after returning to international karting competition at Le Mans and finishing 15th in the KZ2 Masters final. The former Ferrari and Brawn driver competed with Birelart at the FIA karting event, returning to this level of international competition roughly a decade after his previous appearance. "I'm driven by speed and the smell of gasoline," Barrichello told Le Maine Libre in the paddock. His Le Mans appearance was also tied to the Barrichello Kart project developed with Birelart. "I'm really happy to see my name on a Birelart kart and very proud of this work and this project," he said ahead of the event, according to ANSA. Barrichello's continued enthusiasm for racing comes as he has also been reflecting on his Formula 1 past, particularly his Ferrari years alongside Michael Schumacher. "He's too important to Formula 1," the Brazilian told La Gazzetta dello Sport when asked about Schumacher. "We should remember that every day." "Our six years in red were wonderful. Back then, if the aerodynamics didn't work, we didn't point the finger at anyone." "We lost and won together." Barrichello also rejected the idea that Schumacher alone shaped Ferrari's success. "Anyone who says Schumacher triumphed and Barrichello didn't understand a thing," he started. "I was also developing the car." "I've seen Michael say 'Rubens decides' many times." And despite serious health scares since retiring from F1, Barrichello says his outlook remains firmly positive. "In Brazil, we say some people are like cats and have seven lives," he smiled. "I lost three or four. I had a stroke in 2018 and that accident," he added, also referring to his infamous 1994 Imola crash. "I thank God I'm still here."
