About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical quality, reliability, or validation engineering, including hands-on ownership of outdoor product testing and MIL-STD-based testing.
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals across materials, structural integrity, and mechanical strength.
  • Ability to move from symptoms to root cause and drive actionable improvements that protect the customer experience.
  • Working knowledge of reliability test standards, including test intent, method selection, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Ability to plan and execute tests end-to-end, including fixture concept and design, setup, and disciplined documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners and external test labs to deliver results on schedule and with quality.
  • Professional written and spoken English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define early validation plans by working backward from customer use scenarios, installation conditions, and key design questions at the concept and feasibility stage.
  • Execute focused mechanical experiments to characterize margins, sensitivities, and failure mechanisms, and deliver actionable recommendations to the design team.
  • Build and maintain test methods and setups, including fixtures, instrumentation, and data pipelines, to enable repeatable, decision-quality measurements; own measurement quality, including R&R where applicable.
  • Partner with PDSA simulation teams to correlate test results with structural and thermal models, align assumptions and boundary conditions, and improve predictive accuracy.
  • Drive root-cause analysis when results deviate from expectations, and translate findings into design changes and updated test and model assumptions.
  • Develop reusable validation assets, including standard methods, fixtures, checklists, and test reports or templates, to improve cycle time and scalability across programs.
  • Coordinate with internal labs and external vendors as needed to ensure test execution is on time, high quality, and well documented.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience validating outdoor or high-reliability products, including temperature and humidity cycling, UV exposure, corrosion, ingress protection, drop, shock, or vibration.
  • Experience with simulation correlation, including working with PDSA teams to align boundary conditions, assumptions, and results.
  • Experience with design of experiments (DOE), controlled experiments, and measurement system assessment (R&R).
  • Experience building reusable validation methods, fixtures, and documentation adopted across programs.
