Requirements
  • 3-5+ years of operations leadership experience in an e-commerce fulfillment environment, including experience managing third-party logistics relationships.
  • Advanced understanding of outbound and inbound fulfillment operations.
  • Ability to assess partner-site needs consistently, drive solutions, and connect partners with appropriate resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build consensus, gain buy-in, and persuade stakeholders on key decisions.
  • 3+ years of experience opening new building sites and setting teams up for success.

Responsibilities
  • Help select sites and vet potential fulfillment-center partners.
  • Understand partner needs and adapt building launch plans for successful integration and launch.
  • Serve as the first point of contact and own the 60-90-day implementation phase, maintaining first-point-of-contact support post-launch.
  • Set up dashboards and services to accomplish partner-site goals.
  • Manage site layout, equipment setup, and training of partner staff with support teams.
  • Set up tailored training sessions for stakeholders based on merchant needs and dashboard configuration and functionality.
  • Reinforce Phase I and Phase II training materials to encourage self-service and seamless interaction with ShipBob dashboards and services.
  • Own the relationship for onboarding questions, requests, and issues at partner sites.
  • Promote partner adoption of key ShipBob features, tools, dashboards, operational warehouse management system functions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Help partners achieve key performance indicators and service-level agreements that support merchant experience.
  • Perform implementation-phase tasks necessary for successful site launches.
  • Ensure assigned fulfillment centers receive operational training according to established schedules and standard operating procedures.
  • Partner with local fulfillment-center management to identify process gaps and create training plans to bring sites up to standard.
  • Review key performance indicators and performance reporting, identify opportunities, and partner with site leaders on corrective actions.
  • Identify and manage process-improvement initiatives that improve merchant experience.
  • Travel to sites, perform operational audits, and track performance.
  • Travel and assist with site implementations as required.
  • Ensure inbound activity is in good standing, unreceived orders are within 90 days, linked unreceived orders are checked daily, work orders are marked arrived, and inbound work-order activity is handled within service-level agreements.
  • Update Jira tickets as needed.
  • Support sites with Cubiscan and ensure they have the resources needed for success.
  • Ensure returns are processed according to company standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure value-added services activities are completed within agreed service-level agreements and communicate with the Control Tower.
  • Identify issues when orders approach service-level-agreement limits and expedite Merchant Care callouts and requests.
  • Help resolve technology-related outbound issues, including cluster-cart restocks and opening and resolving IPS tickets.
  • Monitor scan-to-gaylord and gaylord-to-dock scanning to ensure partners follow standard operating procedures.
  • Send detailed end-of-day passdowns describing daily callouts and progress across the network.
  • Comply with food-safety and compliance policies and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

ShipBob said it has built its fulfillment technology stack internally. That stack can now "bring an end-to-end AI layer across its entire operations," the company said in its announcement. It includes ShipBob's model context protocol (MCP), which is what allows it to connect to merchants' operations. An MCP is an open-source standard for connecting AI applications to external systems. Additionally, ShipBob said it has built its technology stack since 2014 instead of buying it. As a result, "its AI is wired into real operations and can act on them directly," according to the company. ShipBob develops MCP for retailers to connect to its AI. ShipBob said its MCP anchors its AI suite for fulfillment technology. The MCP uses an Anthropic-verified connector in Claude or ShipBob's in-dashboard agent, Bobby, to give merchants access to the company's AI tools. "A new ShipBob AI Hub is where merchants learn about ShipBob AI, connect their own tools, and see every action AI takes on their account," the company said. "The same intelligence runs on the warehouse floor, where autonomous mobile robots take on the physical legwork and AI-powered cameras grade returns as they arrive. It is one operation, from the software a merchant works in to the machines on the floor, getting smarter at once." ShipBob said the companies "that win in an AI-native world" will be the ones with the strongest APIs, cleanest operational data and deepest action layer running underneath. "Every commerce platform has an AI story right now," said CEO Dhruv Saxena. "But a storefront can become AI-ready in a weekend, and a supply chain cannot, because a supply chain is not software alone. It is inventory, labor, warehouses, exceptions, and the trust riding on every order. We have been building the stack that lets AI actually operate a supply chain since 2014, so our AI story is not that we added AI to ShipBob. That's not enough in the fulfillment space, it added. It said real tests include whether AI can: * See an order and the inventory behind it. * Reship a package that is running late. * Upgrade a reship to a faster carrier. ShipBob said there is no "shortcut" when it comes to inventory, warehouses, labor and delivery promises. How merchants can use ShipBob's fulfillment AI. "I can't even remember the last time I was on a call where someone asked me to decide which orders to prioritize," said Mike McPhail, senior director of distribution at Vuori, in the announcement.
