Diamond Line service added at APM Terminals Aarhus.

Diamond Line service added at APM Terminals Aarhus. September 30, 2026 APM Terminals Aarhus has added a new Diamond Line service, strengthening the Danish container terminal's connectivity with international shipping markets. The new service is expected to provide additional cargo-handling and vessel-call opportunities at Aarhus, Denmark's largest container port. The connection will support exporters and importers by offering another option for moving containerised cargo through the port. The addition of the Diamond Line service comes as shipping lines continue to adjust their networks and expand or refine port coverage in response to changing cargo flows and customer requirements. APM Terminals Aarhus plays an important role in Denmark's container logistics network, serving manufacturers, retailers and freight forwarders across Denmark and the wider Nordic region. Improved service coverage can help strengthen connections between regional cargo centres and global trade routes. The new call is also expected to support the movement of both import and export containers, providing greater flexibility for businesses using Aarhus as a gateway for international trade. APM Terminals is continuing to focus on improving terminal connectivity and operational efficiency across its global network. The addition of Diamond Line further expands the range of shipping services available at Aarhus. The development is expected to benefit the local logistics sector by strengthening maritime connectivity and providing customers with additional options for international container transport.

APM Terminals Pipavav launches first double-stack Python train to Dadri.

APM Terminals Pipavav launches first double-stack Python train to Dadri. APM Terminals Pipavav has launched its first double-stack Python block train to ICD Dadri, expanding container rail connectivity between western and northern India. The inaugural service departed Pipavav on 16 September, carrying 338 TEUs over a distance of around 1,200 kilometres. The operation was carried out in collaboration with Maersk India and Container Corporation of India (CONCOR). New service increases container capacity. The service uses a double-stack Python configuration, which allows more containers to be transported in a single rail movement. According to APM Terminals Pipavav, the configuration can carry up to four times the volume of its existing weekly import block train. The terminal said this was the first Python rake designed and operated by a port for a single shipping line. The operation involved APM Terminals Pipavav, Maersk India, CONCOR and Indian Railways. Direct access to key freight corridor. Pipavav is directly connected to India's Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), which provides access to major inland markets in northern India. The new service connects the port with ICD Dadri, a major inland container hub. Dadri is located approximately 1,234 kilometres from Pipavav. The port has rail infrastructure capable of handling up to 22 trains per day. Double-stack Python trains on the corridor can reach around 1.5 kilometres in length and carry approximately 360 TEUs. With 338 TEUs transported on the inaugural service, the train operated close to the stated capacity of the configuration. The new service strengthens Pipavav's rail offering for containerised cargo moving between the port and northern India. It also provides shippers with an alternative to long-distance road transport for cargo moving to and from the region. APM Terminals Apapa to launch 24-hour barge operations.

APM Terminals Apapa to launch 24-hour barge operations. September 15, 2026 APM Terminals Apapa will introduce 24-hour barge operations at its dedicated Finger Jetty in the fourth quarter of 2026. The Nigerian container terminal is also targeting a major increase in rail use, with an ambition to move 60% of its export containers by rail. The initiatives are aimed at improving cargo flows and reducing bottlenecks across Nigeria's export logistics chain. Finger Jetty to operate around the clock. The dedicated Finger Jetty will support both incoming and outgoing container movements. Customers will be able to bring export containers into the terminal, evacuate imports and deliver empty containers by barge around the clock. "This gives us the capacity to handle more barges unlike the past when we had to do barging on our main quay," said Kayode Olufemi-Daniel, Head of Commercial at APM Terminals Apapa. "We now have additional barging capacity which will be operated on our Finger Jetty." APM Terminals said the additional capacity should help improve cargo flows through the terminal. Apapa targets 60% of exports by rail. The terminal is also seeking to expand the use of rail for export containers. APM Terminals Apapa currently has rail arrangements through two locations. Exporters can collect empty containers, load them and return the laden units to the terminal by rail. Each location currently handles around three rail calls per week, depending on demand. Each train has capacity for approximately 60 TEU. APM Terminals said its internal assessment indicates that rail is the most cost-effective option for moving export containers. The terminal has now set a target for 60% of its export containers to arrive by rail. Terminal targets higher export volumes. The plans were presented during the third APM Terminals Apapa Exporters Forum in Lagos. The terminal is working with exporters, shipping lines, logistics companies and regulators to identify problems affecting Nigeria's export supply chain. "We want exporters to come back to Apapa. We want the volumes to come back, which is why we want to ensure the ease of doing business," said Olufemi-Daniel. He added that APM Terminals wants Apapa to strengthen its position as a gateway for Nigerian exports, particularly as the country seeks to increase non-oil trade.

Export volumes rise 6% at APM Terminals Apapa.

Export volumes rise 6% at APM Terminals Apapa. September 12, 2026 APM Terminals Apapa recorded a 6% increase in export volumes during the first half of 2026. The Nigerian container terminal said exports have maintained a positive growth trend over the past five years. APM Terminals attributed the latest increase to stronger activity from Nigerian exporters and measures aimed at improving cargo flows. Terminal strengthens export operations. APM Terminals Apapa has introduced dedicated export lanes at its gates. The measure is designed to speed up access to the terminal for export cargo. The terminal has also expanded the use of rail services to support cargo movements. The Lagos-Moniya rail connection operates three times per week. It provides exporters with an alternative to road transport and reduces exposure to traffic congestion around Apapa. Export cargo also reaches the terminal through the Ebute Metta rail corridor. "Our role goes beyond handling containers. We want to make it easier, faster and more competitive for Nigerian exporters to access global markets," said Kamal Alhraishat, Managing Director of APM Terminals Apapa. The terminal's main export commodities include soybeans, cashew nuts, cocoa, hibiscus flowers and solid minerals. Export growth continues. APM Terminals Apapa has recorded export growth in recent years. In 2024, export volumes increased by 10%, while imports rose by 13%. The terminal has also invested in additional yard capacity to accommodate export cargo and improve customs clearance processes. APM Terminals said it will continue working with exporters, government agencies, shipping lines and logistics companies to improve Nigeria's export supply chain.
