A Motley Fool analysis picks Oracle over Intuit as the better tech stock to buy in 2026, though it flags risks at both companies. Intuit posted fiscal 2026 revenue of $21 billion, up about 14%, with net income near $4.6 billion and free cash flow of $8.6 billion. It trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 13.1x, against 17.4x for Oracle. The author warns it could be a value trap as cheaper tax tools threaten its individual customer base. Oracle reported revenue of about $67 billion, up 17%, and net income of $17 billion. Free cash flow was negative at nearly $5.4 billion. Its debt-to-equity ratio fell from 3.6x in May to 2.3x in August. The author favours Oracle for its cloud backlog and 30% revenue growth last quarter.
Intuit has integrated Meta's Muse AI assistant into QuickBooks, allowing small business customers to manage cash flow, payments, payroll, and tax filing. The move is part of a broader trend among payment companies adopting agentic AI as a competitive differentiator. PayPal and Shopify have also added Muse support recently. These firms are using AI to compete with traditional banks and payment processors. Intuit leverages its data from over 10 million businesses across 307 industries to provide actionable insights through AI models. The company has previously partnered with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Perplexity, making QuickBooks and Mailchimp available within their platforms. According to Kaiko research analyst Thomas Probst, whilst AI agents present opportunities for payment firms, data quality remains a critical challenge requiring accurate, reliable information and proper oversight.

SimpleClosure and Intuit QuickBooks partner to help businesses stay compliant when closing payroll tax accounts. Published on 10/02/2026 at 08:00 am EDT S&P Capital IQ SimpleClosure announced a partnership with Intuit, the global financial technology platform that makes TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, Mailchimp, Intuit Enterprise Suite, and Intuit Accountant Suite, to help QuickBooks Workforce customers properly close state payroll tax accounts when they stop running payroll. For customers who are shutting down their business entirely, the partnership also provides easy access to SimpleClosure dissolution services, which includes handling the 95+ moving parts of a shutdown. Payroll tax accounts can remain open even after active payroll stops. This discrepancy can leave business owners responsible for ongoing filing requirements, and exposed to notices, fees and penalties not on their radar. SimpleClosure helps to manage the closing of these accounts, whether due to operational changes like workforce restructuring, a transition to a Professional Employer Organization (PEO), or no longer employing workers in a specific state, in addition to business closure. With more than 100 state tax agencies and thousands of local agencies across the U.S., requirements for closing these accounts vary widely by location, and business owners are often left to determine on their own which accounts need to be closed, where to file, and what steps are required. Through this partnership, QuickBooks Workforce customers will have access to SimpleClosure's guided experience and can securely transfer their company and state payroll tax account details from QuickBooks to SimpleClosure, so they don't have to start from scratch. SimpleClosure then collects any necessary additional information from the customer and manages the state-specific closure process, typically in under 10 minutes. SimpleClosure is currently partnered with several payroll providers operating in the U.S. and has closed approximately 14,000 payroll tax accounts for more than 7,000 customers to date. Intuit's fiscal 2026 "Big Bets" grew over 30% and reached roughly 30% of total revenues. Mid-market revenues advanced 39%.
