Beyond Yoga's strategic pivot: how the athleisure powerhouse is claiming its physical territory.

Beyond Yoga's strategic pivot: how the athleisure powerhouse is claiming its physical territory. Rifan Muazin September 19, 2026 7 minutes read In a retail landscape increasingly defined by the fusion of digital convenience and tangible community experiences, Beyond Yoga is doubling down on its brick-and-mortar ambitions. Following the runaway success of its weeklong 2024 pop-up experiment, the Levi Strauss & Co.-owned activewear brand has officially launched an extended retail residency in the heart of New York City. This strategic move, which will keep doors open through January, marks a pivotal moment for a brand long recognized for its e-commerce dominance. The new storefront is not merely a point of sale; it is a meticulously curated experiential environment designed to anchor the brand in one of its most lucrative markets. By bridging the gap between its loyal online following and a physical presence, Beyond Yoga is signaling a broader shift in its corporate trajectory - one that prioritizes localized community building as much as global scalability. The evolution of the brand: A chronology of growth. To understand the significance of the New York City pop-up, one must look at the meteoric rise of Beyond Yoga over the past four years. * 2021: The Levi's Acquisition: The brand's trajectory shifted dramatically when it was acquired by Levi Strauss & Co. The move provided the capital and operational infrastructure necessary for Beyond Yoga to scale beyond its initial niche as a premium yoga-apparel boutique. * 2024: The Proof of Concept: Beyond Yoga tested the waters with a brief, weeklong pop-up in New York. The overwhelming consumer response served as a quantitative signal that the brand's digital community was hungry for a tangible retail touchpoint. * 2025: Expanding the Platform: The brand further diversified its identity by launching a digital lifestyle platform in collaboration with actor Issa Rae. This move solidified its transition from a pure-play activewear manufacturer to a broader lifestyle brand. * 2026: The Retail Expansion: With double-digit growth reported over the past two quarters, the brand has initiated an aggressive expansion strategy. This includes the current New York City residency, alongside planned store openings in Denver, Colorado, and San Clemente, California. Market dynamics: beyond the mat. The athleisure sector is currently undergoing a structural metamorphosis. Historically, brands in this space were defined by their functionality - leggings designed for the yoga studio and sports bras built for the gym. However, as consumer habits shift toward "lifestyle dressing," brands like Beyond Yoga are finding success by expanding into casualwear, premium denim, and versatile everyday silhouettes. This transition is not accidental. As competitors like Lululemon, Alo Yoga, and Vuori continue to push into new product categories - ranging from leather goods to high-fashion outerwear - Beyond Yoga is carving out a unique position. By focusing on comfort-first fabrics and a softer, more inclusive aesthetic, the company is successfully capturing the "work-from-home" and "social-athleisure" demographics that dominate the current fashion landscape. Strategic implications of the NYC residency. The New York City market has long been a top-tier e-commerce territory for the brand. By establishing a physical footprint, Beyond Yoga is effectively lowering its customer acquisition costs (CAC) by utilizing the store as a billboard, a fulfillment center, and a community hub simultaneously. The decision to remain open through the critical fall and holiday shopping seasons suggests that the company is aiming to capture the surge in consumer spending associated with the end-of-year retail cycle. Official responses and strategic vision. CEO Nancy Green, a veteran of the apparel industry with a deep history at Old Navy and Athleta, has been the primary architect of this retail-centric vision. Her leadership has been marked by a focus on "localized expressions" of the brand. "New York has long been one of our largest e-commerce markets and home to one of our most engaged communities," Green stated during the announcement on September 17. "Establishing a physical presence here was an important next step. We are excited to build on the relationship we've established with this community online and create a more personal, localized expression of Beyond Yoga." This sentiment underscores a broader industry trend: the "Phygital" retail experience. For a brand like Beyond Yoga, the store serves as a laboratory. By observing how customers interact with fabrics, fit, and styling in a real-world setting, the brand can gather data that is impossible to synthesize through clicks and conversions alone. Community-Led retail: the "seek beyond" Initiative. One of the most notable aspects of the brand's new strategy is its focus on high-impact events. On October 17, the brand will host the first East Coast edition of its "Seek Beyond: Open Air" event. By integrating a community run with a live performance by musician Natasha Bedingfield, Beyond Yoga is positioning itself as a cultural participant rather than just a commercial entity. This experiential marketing strategy is designed to foster deep-rooted brand loyalty. In a crowded marketplace, where activewear options are abundant, Beyond Yoga is banking on the idea that customers will remain loyal to brands that contribute to their lifestyle and values. By hosting events that prioritize wellness, fitness, and music, the company is creating an emotional tether that transcends the product itself. Supporting data: why the expansion makes sense. The brand's confidence in its brick-and-mortar expansion is backed by robust financial performance. For the past two quarters, Beyond Yoga has reported double-digit growth, a significant achievement in a retail climate characterized by economic uncertainty and fluctuating consumer sentiment. The company currently operates 18 stores, with the New York pop-up serving as the flagship for its most recent growth phase. Recent openings in Manhattan Beach, California, and Scottsdale, Arizona, provide further evidence that the brand is targeting affluent, health-conscious demographics. The Retail footprint at a glance: * Total Stores: 18 * Key Recent Openings: Manhattan Beach (CA), Scottsdale (AZ) * Upcoming Locations: Denver (CO), San Clemente (CA) * Operational Goal: To integrate e-commerce logistics with local retail presence, allowing for seamless omnichannel shopping (such as "Buy Online, Pick Up In-Store"). The road ahead: challenges and opportunities. While the shift to physical retail offers significant upside, it also presents challenges. Managing the overhead costs associated with prime real estate in cities like New York requires a precise inventory strategy. Beyond Yoga plans to mitigate this by utilizing a "rotating lineup" of products. By frequently changing the inventory, the brand creates a sense of scarcity and urgency, compelling customers to visit the store more than once during the pop-up's tenure. Furthermore, as the brand continues to expand its categories - venturing into areas that compete directly with traditional fashion labels - it must maintain the quality and comfort standards that earned it such a dedicated following in the first place. The risk of "brand dilution" is always present when a company grows rapidly; however, if the brand maintains its focus on premium materials and community-based events, it is well-positioned to maintain its current momentum. Conclusion: the future of athleisure. Beyond Yoga's current expansion is a microcosm of the future of retail. It is no longer enough to be a brand that delivers products to a doorstep; successful modern retailers must also be destinations. By weaving together high-performance apparel, community engagement, and strategic physical presence, Beyond Yoga is transforming itself into a pillar of the modern wellness lifestyle. As the company prepares to open its doors in Denver and San Clemente later this year, the industry will be watching closely. If the New York City pop-up serves as an accurate indicator, the brand's move from the screen to the street is not just a trend - it is a sustainable, long-term blueprint for growth in an era where the customer experience is king. For the modern consumer, the message is clear: Beyond Yoga is no longer just a digital option for leggings. It is becoming a fixture of the local community, ready to meet its customers where they live, work, and sweat. Administrator

Amelia Gray and Candice Swanepoel front ALO's Fall 2026 bag campaign.

Amelia Gray and Candice Swanepoel front ALO's Fall 2026 bag campaign. September 11, 2026 Deal Type: Brand Partnership / Ad Campaign Announced: September 9, 2026 * Amelia Gray and Candice Swanepoel return to front ALO's Fall 2026 luxury bag campaign, shot by legendary photographer Steven Meisel. * The collection introduces the Unwind Cinch and Shoulder Voyage bags alongside ALO's first-ever line of small leather goods, including wallets and cardholders. * Every bag is handmade in Florence, Italy, using responsibly sourced Italian leather and a new athletic-inspired "Leather Mesh" fabrication. * Models Daiane Sodré, Ming Xi, and Natasha Poly round out the campaign roster. ALO has launched its Fall 2026 bag campaign, teaming up again with runway stars Amelia Gray and Candice Swanepoel. Renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel directed and shot the project, with production managed by Art + Commerce. Both models previously helped launch ALO's debut bag collection in September 2025. They now return alongside Daiane Sodré, while runway veterans Ming Xi and Natasha Poly join the brand as new faces. The drop marks the second chapter of ALO's move into luxury accessories. New shapes include the Unwind Cinch bag in Medium and Mini sizes, as well as the everyday Shoulder Voyage. The collection's hero material is "Leather Mesh", a laser-cut leather inspired by gym mesh and made by artisans in Florence, Italy. Each piece features hand-painted edges and an ALO Intention Crystal, adding Yellow Tiger's Eye and Smoky Quartz to the lineup. The release also marks ALO's debut in small leather goods, introducing cardholders, wallets, passport covers, and crescent pouches. Both lead stars bring strong momentum into the release. Amelia Gray made her television acting debut earlier this year in Ryan Murphy's FX series The Beauty and continues to lead major luxury fashion campaigns for Balenciaga, BOSS, and Burberry. The rollout marks another major launch for Alo, which tapped Lila Moss and Lara Stone in July 2026 to front its debut eyewear campaign. Meanwhile, Swanepoel, founder of sustainable swimwear label Tropic of C, returned to the spotlight for Victoria's Secret to lead their Rome-shot "Very Sexy" campaign in July 2026. The campaign continues Alo's strategy of leveraging high-fashion star power to bridge activewear and luxury streetwear. The rollout follows back-to-back summer pushes for the brand, including Bella Hadid fronting the Los Angeles Pre-Fall 2026 collection and Kylie Jenner starring in the Pink Marshmallow launch. ALO is no longer content staying in the activewear lane; it wants a real share of the European luxury handbag market. Enlisting Steven Meisel for a second consecutive year and manufacturing in Florence sends a direct message to heritage fashion houses. For top-tier talent like Amelia Gray and Candice Swanepoel, multi-season partnerships across several product lines (from eyewear to leather accessories) demonstrate how athletic lifestyle brands are replacing traditional fashion houses as primary career anchors. By integrating wellness touches like intention crystals into high-end leathercraft, ALO is effectively establishing a new "mindful luxury" category built to go straight from Pilates class to evening dinners. Can activewear brands command four-figure prices for leather bags against established European luxury houses? Will multi-season, multi-category brand ambassadorships replace single-drop influencer deals in fashion?

New brunch option coming to The Village.

New brunch option coming to The Village. September 9, 2026 A new-to-the-valley restaurant is planning another location. Over Easy has filed application permits to take over the former Blaze Pizza site at The Village at Meridian. According to the application, the restaurant plans to remodel the space's kitchen, dining room, patio, bar, and restrooms. As BoiseDev reported, the Arizona restaurant also has plans for a location at The District at Ten Mile. Over Easy co-owner Ryan Field said the company plans to open The Village location in the first quarter of 2027 and the Ten Mile location afterward. Over Easy is a brunch restaurant that has multiple locations in Arizona and one in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The menu includes items like banana nut French toast, golden waffle dogs, and a Monte Cristo. Field said Over Easy focuses on making food from scratch and in-house. The restaurant has been featured on television a number of times, including on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and TLC's "Best Food Ever." The Over Easy at The Village is 2,818 square feet, which Field says is smaller than his team's typical restaurant footprint. He said they are planning to have a "rather large" patio with an indoor/outdoor bar. He said they are hoping to cover at least half of the patio to provide year-round seating there. "We had been talking with The Village for a while, and things don't really turn over there that often," Field said. "When Blaze opened up, we jumped all over it." Field said Idaho was on his radar for several years. He spent a lot of time coming up with his brother to visit his mother and sister after the two moved here from Arizona. "We've always enjoyed it and always said this would be a great market for us, and we're just now finally getting to it," Field said. Field said his team is currently looking at other places to set up more Over Easy locations in the Treasure Valley, but nothing is solidified yet. Over Easy joins a slew of other new offerings coming to The Village. As BoiseDev reported, the shopping center is in the midst of an expansion of more than 100,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Over a dozen new businesses are coming to The Village with said expansion, including Alo, Apple, Gorjana, Kendra Scott, Pottery Barn, Tecovas, Tempur-Pedic, Vuori, Williams Sonoma, 7th Avenue, Capital Grille, Culinary Dropout, Flower Child, Paris Baguette, Postino, and Solidcore. Sydney Kidd is a BoiseDev reporter focused on development and growth across the Treasure Valley. She grew up in Ada County and has covered the Treasure Valley since 2020, with an emphasis on development, restaurants, and legal proceedings.
