  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience of four years.
  • Have ten or more years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Have five or more years of experience in a management role.
  • Hold a valid, current Airframe and Powerplant License.
  • Have extensive knowledge of the aerospace industry, helicopter maintenance, repair and overhaul components, and special processes.
  • Be able to lead and direct complex assignments.
  • Be able to manage cost and schedule for projects of $1 million or more.
  • Be able to lead teams effectively.
  • Have strong facilitation and strategy skills.
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and react to shifting priorities to meet business needs.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
  • Be able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Be able to meet the physical requirements of the role, including reading screens and engineering drawings, hearing production-floor warnings, operating office and production equipment, carrying and lifting up to 30 pounds, and walking through office and production areas.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators or masks, and protective gloves as required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, vision, and strategic planning for inspectors, including setting daily, weekly, monthly, and annual goals based on Top Company Objectives, internal customer priorities, and operational quality key performance indicators.
  • Establish and maintain departmental operating expense and capital expenditure budgets, Top Company Objectives, and Airbus Helicopters North America goals.
  • Oversee the Quality Management System for procedural compliance and internal and external audits.
  • Lead staff to enhance career development and build a collaborative team.
  • Manage operational quality for Dynamic Component Repair, Blades, and Non-Destructive Testing by monitoring key performance indicators, managing product flow, and eliminating backlog.
  • Manage departmental nonconformances by ensuring timely disposition and completion of effective root-cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Manage employee time and vacation while maintaining business operations and controlling backlogs.
  • Develop and sustain a team of inspectors trained in Airbus customer quality and regulatory competency requirements for Dynamic Component Repair, Blades, and equipment.
  • Ensure special processes such as Non-Destructive Inspection comply with Airbus Helicopters, Airbus Helicopters Deutschland, American Society for Nondestructive Testing, and European standards.
  • Ensure inspectors comply with Federal Aviation Administration, AS9100, Continuing Airworthiness Support Engineering, Transport Canada, United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority, and European Union Aviation Safety Agency requirements.
  • Sustain processes that comply with Federal Aviation Administration, Transport Canada, United Kingdom, and European Union Aviation Safety Agency airworthiness issuance and federal regulations.
  • Ensure inspectors follow the Airbus Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics, and Airbus safety standards.
  • Identify and drive YourSay improvement in the department.
  • Lead, mentor, and support projects implementing digital documentation systems, including electronic signatures.
  • Monitor Andon and Quality Gate processes to maintain a zero-escape culture, measure First Pass Yields at key process stages, and take timely corrective action.
  • Integrate Airbus Group problem-solving tools, including Plan-Do-Check-Act and Practical Problem Solving, into Airbus Helicopters North America regional activities to resolve supplier, internal, and customer non-quality drivers.
  • Use data to identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements focused on quantitative efficiencies and right-first-time quality.
  • Travel approximately 20% domestically and internationally.

Airbus A350F freighter completes maiden flight with 4.3m cargo door for servers

Airbus has successfully completed the first flight of its A350F freighter, bringing the aerospace giant closer to delivering a high-capacity cargo aircraft. The plane took off from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse, France, flying for four hours and ten minutes and reaching 25,000 feet. The A350F can carry a payload of 109 tonnes, compared to 64 tonnes for the existing A330F. It features a 4.3-metre cargo door large enough to accommodate turbofan engines and high-density computer servers. Airbus claims the A350F is more efficient than Boeing's rival 777F, despite having slightly less capacity. The company has already received orders for 115 A350Fs. A second test aircraft is nearly complete as Airbus begins the certification process requiring hundreds of test flights.

Airbus and Qantas back $30M funding for Australian SAF developer Jet Zero

Jet Zero Australia has raised $30 million to advance Project Ulysses, a commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel refinery in Townsville. The funding round was backed by institutional investors including Qantas and Airbus, both returning investors from 2023. South Korean company Posco International joined as a new strategic investor, with the parties exploring opportunities in fuel offtake, infrastructure and feedstock. The capital will fund completion of Front-End Engineering Design and support the project's progress towards Final Investment Decision and construction. Founded in 2021 by Ed Mason, Jet Zero develops biofuels production capacity in regional Australia. The project has received its final Development Permit Decision Notice from Queensland's Office of the Coordinator-General. It is expected to create approximately 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent operational roles.

Airbus shelves stricter office return plan after Spanish union strikes

Airbus has postponed its plan to reduce remote working after strikes by Spanish unions, Reuters reports. The aerospace manufacturer will allow employees to continue working from home an average of two days per week, shelving indefinitely a push to limit remote work to one day. Chief Executive Guillaume Faury had sought to require white-collar staff on-site four days weekly by September, citing the need for knowledge transfer. Spanish unions said roughly 40% of Airbus's 14,000 Spanish employees have walked out over remote work policies, transport, leave and wages. An Airbus spokesperson said the company would implement the transition "more gradually" based on employee feedback. French unions estimate a quarter to a third of Airbus's workforce has been hired in the past three years. Aircraft production has not been affected by the disruptions.
