Requirements

  • More than 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience designing controls for PLC-based systems.
  • Strong knowledge of programming Siemens STEP 7 and TIA Portal PLCs.
  • Experience programming human-machine interfaces using WinCC or TIA Portal.
  • Knowledge of Siemens automation products and communication protocols including Profibus, Profinet, AS-i, TCP/IP, and ISO.
  • Experience interfacing with other components such as SCADA, host systems, cameras, and volumetric systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics using EPLAN.
  • Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
  • High level of English and native or bilingual Spanish.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply logistics knowledge to analyze customer processes and create conceptual solutions.
  • Ability to work in an international environment.
  • Availability to travel locally or internationally.
  • Leadership and decision-making ability.
  • Organized and methodical approach.
  • Valid driving license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop low-level control engineering for baggage-handling conveyor systems or parcel-sorting systems using TIA Portal and/or STEP 7.
  • Coordinate the controls scope for assigned projects.
  • Lead the design of control aspects for assigned projects.
  • Specify, develop, and configure controls integration.
  • Program and commission PLC-based installations.
  • Prepare and review project-related documentation.
  • Validate designs, identify problems through testing, and resolve issues and open points affecting system programming and commissioning.
  • Help configure and maintain development, testing, and production environments.
  • Collaborate on projects with teams from other BEUMER Group offices.
  • Manage site incident reports and open points.
  • Create additional-material specifications when necessary.
  • Support installation and plant commissioning teams when necessary.
  • Process as-built documentation received from the plant.
  • Transfer knowledge to other engineers.
  • Initiate improvements to content, processes, and tools.
  • Incorporate project lessons learned into the company's products, processes, and tools.
  • Support the engineering department head.
  • Advise new engineers.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with automation systems integrated into manufacturing or distribution industries.
  • Experience working in logistics-system or airport-baggage-handling environments.
  • Knowledge of simulation or emulation software such as Experior and/or Demo3D.
  • German language proficiency.
