Requirements
  • Experience hanging doors and setting windows.
  • Experience waterproofing and knowledge of how to properly flash exterior doors and windows.
  • Proficiency with using a builder’s level.
  • A thorough understanding of structural framing details.
  • Knowledge of trim installation, including trim around doors, windows, base, base shoe, and crown molding.
  • Familiarity with coping techniques for base and crown molding.
  • Familiarity with scribing techniques for cabinetry and other trim work.
  • The ability to mill materials to exact dimensions.
  • The ability to cut tapers in trim boards when walls are out of plumb.
  • Familiarity with making jigs for routing door and cabinet hardware.
  • Familiarity with cabinetry and casework installation.
  • Full understanding and working knowledge of the tools required to perform high-level carpentry.
  • Crown molding installation at various wall angles with coped or mitered joinery.
  • Paneling fabrication and installation.
  • Familiarity with some stair work, including handrails and skirt boards.
  • Satisfactory math skills for figuring out angles and pitches for roofs, stairs, and railings.
  • Glue-up joinery skills for shelving, table, or bench tops.
  • Familiarity with sharpening techniques for chisels and plane blades.
  • U.S. work authorization.
Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret architectural and shop drawings.
  • Manage building layout and dimensional control.
  • Establish clarity around deadlines, identify slipping deadlines early, and communicate new deadlines to the Foreman and Superintendent.
  • Prepare and execute the daily work plan.
  • Work and plan with subcontractors to ensure the project is ready for them to begin work each day.
  • Help fellow carpenters put new work into place, from framing to finish.
  • Work with the Superintendent to order materials.
  • Evaluate cabinets, door and window details, and shop drawings.
  • Mentor and coach fellow Carpenters, Apprentice Carpenters, and Laborers.
  • Identify when other workers or subcontractors are working unsafely and report unsafe practices to the Foreman or Superintendent.
