Why Lennox (LII) stock is down today.

Why Lennox (LII) stock is down today. Petr huřťák /. July 29, 2026 What happened? Shares of climate control solutions innovator Lennox International (NYSE:LII) fell 20.1% in the afternoon session after the company reported second-quarter results that missed revenue estimates and provided a full-year profit forecast that fell short of Wall Street's expectations. Lennox's revenue for the quarter was $1.55 billion, slightly below the $1.56 billion analysts had expected. The primary driver for the stock's decline appeared to be the full-year earnings per share (EPS) guidance. The company's forecast, with a midpoint of $23.50, missed analyst consensus estimates by 4.7%. The combination of failing to meet current revenue targets and providing a disappointing outlook for future profits prompted the negative reaction from investors. The stock market overreacts to news, and big price drops can present good opportunities to buy high-quality stocks. Is now the time to buy Lennox? Access our full analysis report here, it's free. What is the market telling us. Lennox's shares are not very volatile and have only had 7 moves greater than 5% over the last year. Moves this big are rare for Lennox and indicate this news significantly impacted the market's perception of the business. The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 5 months ago when the stock dropped 5.1% on the news that the broader market tumbled in morning trading as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East sent crude oil prices soaring above $100 a barrel. The unease among investors stemmed from the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran, which intensified concerns over severe supply chain disruptions. With oil prices breaching the key psychological barrier of $100, major indices like the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all opened significantly lower. The uncertainty weighed on the economic outlook, with Goldman Sachs cutting its growth forecast and citing a 25% chance of a recession in the next year. This risk-off sentiment reflected fears that sustained high energy prices could fuel inflation and dampen economic activity, prompting investors to pull back from equities. Lennox is down 11.4% since the beginning of the year, and at $441.57 per share, it is trading 31% below its 52-week high of $639.52 from July 2025. Despite the year-to-date decline, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Lennox's shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,323. ALSO WORTH WATCHING: Nvidia's Quiet Partner. Platinum Equity to sell Heat Controller to Lennox.

Platinum Equity to sell Heat Controller to Lennox. Deal positions HVAC equipment supplier for continued growth. June 19, 2026 Platinum Equity said it has signed a definitive agreement to sell Heat Controller, an HVAC equipment supplier, to Lennox (NYSE: LII). Headquartered in Jackson, Michigan, Heat Controller serves distributors across North America through its Comfort-Aire and Century brands. Platinum Equity acquired the company in 2024 as part of its investment in Motors & Armatures Inc. (MARS), a distributor of HVACR parts, supplies, and equipment. For contractors, the transaction brings two established brands under the Lennox umbrella and continues the manufacturer's broader effort to expand its equipment, parts, and supply offerings. Lennox previously acquired the HVAC division of NSI Industries, including the Duro Dyne and Supco brands, as part of a strategy to provide more comprehensive lifecycle solutions for residential and commercial customers. Platinum Equity Co-President Jacob Kotzubei said the sale concludes the firm's investment in MARS and reflects efforts to create value through product introductions, acquisitions, leadership investments, and strategic divestitures. "We believe Lennox is an ideal strategic home for the Heat Controller business and are confident the company is well positioned to continue building on its momentum in this next chapter as part of the Lennox platform," said Platinum Equity Managing Director Dan Krasner. The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
