About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
  • Six to nine years of security engineering experience with hands-on cloud experience is a guideline rather than a hard requirement.
  • Use agentic artificial intelligence tools as the primary surface for security engineering, analysis, detection, and automation, applying judgment to their outputs.
  • Have senior-level breadth across network, application, cloud, information, and artificial intelligence security, with depth in several areas.
  • Build and operate controls as code, including policy as code, infrastructure as code, automation, and detections, in production; carry on-call and incident responsibilities.
  • Have cloud security depth in AWS and Azure, including identity and access management, least privilege, identity federation, single sign-on, secrets management, privileged access, workload and non-human identities, network security, container security, image scanning, runtime protection, key management, encryption, and cloud security posture management across configuration, workloads, and entitlements (CSPM, CWPP, and CIEM).
  • Have data protection and privacy engineering experience, including data classification, encryption, tokenization, key management, data loss prevention, privacy by design for regulated health data, and data residency awareness.
  • Have application and product security depth, including secure software development lifecycle, threat modeling, static and dynamic testing, software composition analysis, secrets and software supply chain security, and API security.
  • Have detection, response, and vulnerability management depth, including SIEM and cloud-native detection, log and event correlation, vulnerability scanning and management, penetration testing coordination, and remediation to closure.
  • Have awareness of AI security risks including prompt injection, data and model poisoning, and data leakage; familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications and MITRE ATLAS is a plus.
  • Build security controls to frameworks including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, NIST, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, and GDPR.
  • Be able to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks.
  • Have organizational and project management skills.
  • Have effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own cloud security posture management across configuration, workloads, and entitlements; identity and access management and least privilege; secrets and privileged access; workload and non-human identities; network segmentation; container security; encryption and key management; and policy-as-code guardrails across AWS and Azure.
  • Build application security into CI/CD pipelines through static, dynamic, dependency, and software supply chain scanning, threat modeling, secrets management, and secure-by-design reviews.
  • Design segmentation, zero-trust access, firewalls, web application firewalls, and traffic inspection across cloud and hybrid networks, using automated and observable controls.
  • Lead data classification, encryption and tokenization, key management, data loss prevention, and privacy by design for PHI and ePHI; account for data residency and cross-border handling.
  • Design guardrails, data protection, and abuse and misuse controls for AI, machine learning, and generative AI, addressing prompt injection, model and data poisoning, and sensitive data leakage; build monitoring to detect these risks.
  • Tune SIEM and cloud-native detections, drive event correlation and incident response, run vulnerability scanning, coordinate penetration testing, and turn findings into fixes with remediation timelines.
  • Maintain security baselines, configuration compliance, controls, logging, and audit evidence; coach engineers across teams to make secure practices easy to adopt.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

  • Security certifications such as CISSP or a cloud security specialty are a plus.
  • Familiarity with references such as the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications and MITRE ATLAS is a plus.
