Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience as a product designer, including recent experience creating coded prototypes using artificial intelligence-enabled tools and workflows.
  • At least 7 years of experience with interaction design and prototyping, including a portfolio demonstrating attention to micro-interactions, motion, and accessibility best practices.
  • At least 7 years of experience collaborating, building alignment, and communicating clearly.
  • At least 7 years of experience working with user research and data analysis teams to inform product and user experience decisions.
  • At least 3 years of experience creating functional prototypes.
  • Experience designing features that use generative artificial intelligence to deliver end-user experiences.
  • Experience refining artificial intelligence tone, format, and behavior to align with brand guidelines, product goals, and quality standards.
  • A portfolio of shipped work demonstrating experience working in zero-to-one environments.
Responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities to use artificial intelligence to address news and information needs through the products' search feature.
  • Use interaction design and coded prototyping skills to build functional prototypes that gain alignment and drive work forward.
  • Validate that prototypes meet users' informational needs and align with brand and journalistic standards.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, user researchers, and editorial partners to ship excellent and performant experiences.
  • Create sketches, mockups, user journeys, and other user experience artifacts to explore editorial and consumer scenarios and identify promising concepts.
  • Frame different approaches and describe tradeoffs.
  • Create functional coded prototypes of artificial-intelligence-powered experiences.
  • Provide input to product strategy and concept development.
  • Lead conversations and help make decisions with the cross-functional team.
  • Contribute to the development of design standards and systems around artificial intelligence.
  • Represent work to company leadership.
  • Improve the people and processes around the role by shaping and participating in team and Product Design rituals.
  • Support and understand the value of journalistic independence and demonstrate commitment to the company's mission.
  • Report to the Deputy Head of Product Design.
