UAE-Based Amaani raises $5M in Series A funding for GCC expansion.

UAE-Based Amaani raises $5M in Series A funding for GCC expansion. Sep 27, 2026, 23:01 PM Amaani, the UAE-based company behind beauty brand AÏZA, has raised $5 million in a Series A funding round as it prepares to expand across the GCC and beyond. The round was led by BECO Capital, with participation from Homegrown Ventures and Peak XV's Surge. The company previously raised $3 million in a seed round led by Peak XV's Surge (formerly Sequoia Capital India & SEA) in September 2025. With the latest Series A, Amaani's total funding has reached $8 million. AÏZA: Amaani's first brand. Shubham Poddar founded AÏZA, Amaani's first brand, in 2023. The skincare and haircare brand draws on the ingredients, rituals, and heritage of Arabia. AÏZA's products reinterpret regional ingredients such as dates, black seed, frankincense, rose, and bakhoor through modern skincare and haircare formulations developed with laboratories in Korea, Japan, and Italy. Its model uses technology and AI across creative testing, customer analytics, marketing, and operations. "Rather than importing an established global playbook into the Middle East, Shubham and the team are building one from here. AÏZA is showing that a brand can be authentically rooted in the Arab world and still have the ambition and product quality to compete globally," said Nader Amiri, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Homegrown Ventures, in a statement. In late 2025, Poddar was featured on Forbes Middle East's 30 Under 30 list for 2025 in the Commerce & Finance category. In the first half of 2026, AÏZA's net revenue increased more than ninefold year-on-year as the brand expanded from a digital-first business into regional retail. Beauty, health and wellness are converging into one retail category.

Beauty, health and wellness are converging into one retail category. September 18, 2026 Economy The boundaries between the pharmacy, the cosmetics counter, and the gym are disappearing as shoppers begin to view beauty, health, and wellness as a single integrated lifestyle category. According to a recent study by consulting firm AlixPartners, nearly every consumer surveyed now views these sectors as one combined budget item rather than three distinct expenses. This shift suggests that modern shoppers are taking a more holistic approach to self-care, where a decision to invest in a high-end night cream might be weighed against the cost of a personal trainer or a nutritional supplement. This evolution is driven in part by what experts call the consumer PhD effect, where buyers are becoming increasingly educated about ingredients and science backed results. Rather than trusting traditional brand marketing, many are turning to social media and peer reviews to find efficacy. While forty percent of consumers want beauty brands to expand into wider wellness offerings, there remains a notable disconnect with corporate leadership. About forty two percent of executives expressed a desire to stay in their specific lanes, fearing the risks associated with long research cycles and shifts in identity that might not yield immediate quarterly returns. Retail giants are already rearranging their floors to keep pace with this behavioral change. Ulta Beauty has introduced dedicated wellness boutiques featuring supplements alongside serums, while Sephora has carved out specialized digital spaces for health and skincare convergence. Even Walmart is redesigning its store layouts to place beauty products in higher traffic areas and utilizing pharmacists to provide expert guidance on holistic health journeys. These moves reflect a broader strategy to capture the wallet share of a customer who no longer sees any difference between clinical health and aesthetic beauty. Beyond layout changes, some companies are pursuing aggressive acquisitions and partnerships to bridge the gap quickly. Recent examples include Procter and Gamble acquiring supplements brand Thorne for billions of dollars and luxury house Gucci partnering with fitness tracker maker Oura. As medical advancements like GLP 1 drugs further blur the line between pharmaceutical health and physical appearance, analysts suggest that victory will go to brands that prioritize scientific legitimacy over simple aesthetics, catering to a sophisticated buyer who demands proven results across all aspects of wellbeing.
