Contract Civil Litigation Attorney
About the job
- Maintain an active Texas Bar license in good standing.
- Hold active admission to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
- Have 2–5 years of civil litigation experience, including business litigation and real estate litigation experience.
- Have experience with discovery, depositions, motion drafting, legal writing, and federal and state court filings.
- Have courtroom experience and the ability to independently manage cases.
- Maintain approximately 160 billable hours per month.
- Travel throughout Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties and report to the Houston office when required.
- Commit to an initial 6–8 month contract.
- Manage civil litigation matters from intake through resolution, including business disputes and real estate litigation.
- Conduct discovery, manage case strategy, and draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Attend hearings and courtroom appearances, and manage federal and state court filings.
- Communicate with clients and opposing counsel.
- Maintain billable hour expectations.
- Travel for court appearances when required.
- Collaborate with attorneys and firm leadership.
