About the Company

Cars Commerce

Two-sided online marketplace for cars

Cars.com runs a two-sided online automotive marketplace that connects car buyers and sellers with dealerships and manufacturers. Consumers can search, compare, view vehicle details and pricing, and contact sellers, while businesses post listings, access analytics, and pay for ads or premium placements; the platform uses data to help both sides make informed decisions. It stands out by offering both a broad consumer marketplace and dealer-focused analytics and subscription tools, with revenue from advertising and subscriptions rather than a single-side model. Its goal is to efficiently connect buyers and sellers in online car shopping and help consumers make informed decisions while helping automotive businesses grow sales and market share through data-driven insights.
