Requirements
  • Zero to two years of experience is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Successful completion of Patient Care Technician training and an active Patient Care Technician Certification are required.
  • An AHA Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Successful completion of the CPCT-A certification is required.
  • Communication skills are required to interact with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Phlebotomy and EKG competency must be completed during orientation.
Responsibilities
  • Support patients' activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, feeding, hygiene, mobility, and transport, while following standard precautions.
  • Perform technical duties as directed by the registered nurse, including phlebotomy, taking vital signs, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and Foley catheter care, and document the work appropriately.
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient status to the registered nurse, respond appropriately, and maintain safe patient practices.
  • Reinforce education for patients and families regarding care needs and safety.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities, and assist in orienting new hires.
  • Complete annual hospital and unit-specific competencies by the required due date.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards to ensure a safe environment and high-quality patient care.
