Requirements
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy or RPH.
  • Knowledge of pharmacokinetic principles for medication dosing.
  • Ability to monitor patients for response to medications.
  • Ability to identify and document sentinel or serious events, near misses, medication errors, and adverse drug reactions in the electronic reporting system.
  • Ability to promote and assure compliance with the hospital formulary and policies and procedures defined by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Ability to provide care appropriate to the patient's chronological age, developmental age, social maturity, and cultural background.
  • Registered Pharmacist status in the State of Pennsylvania.
  • Certification required based on the primary work location.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, with frequent sitting, standing, and keyboard use; patient-care providers may also be required to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the medication distribution system for the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve drug therapy problems by ensuring each medication is indicated, effective, safe, and convenient for the patient.
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
  • Assure the appropriateness of drug therapy and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Oversee the distribution of medications throughout Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
  • Support implementation of processes that assure the quality of pharmacy services.
  • Train assigned staff, including residents, interns, technicians, and new pharmacists.
  • Precept assigned student pharmacists.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of PGY1 pharmacy residency experience.
  • Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook skills.
