About the company

Shinola makes premium watches, bicycles, and leather goods in Detroit. Its watches are designed and assembled in a Detroit factory and use quality materials, aiming for durable, stylish products rather than mass-market fashion. The company operates by designing products in-house, assembling many items in its Detroit facility, and selling through its own stores and select retailers. A key differentiator is its focus on American manufacturing and local jobs, especially reviving the historic Argonaut Building as its watch factory to help Detroit's economy. Shinola builds a narrative around American craftsmanship, community impact, and Made-in-America authenticity, setting it apart from competitors that outsource production. The company’s goal is to revive American manufacturing, create meaningful employment in Detroit, and offer luxury-style goods with a strong emphasis on quality, heritage, and social impact.

How Shinola is using internet culture to reach new audiences.

How Shinola is using internet culture to reach new audiences. Shinola's latest campaign features Tefi Pessoa, Kareem Rahma, Nems and Benton McClintock. 3 hours ago Shinola is turning to internet culture to launch its first automatic Duck watch, with a campaign starring four personalities from entertainment, comedy, music and online media. The campaign, launching Monday features Tefi Pessoa, Kareem Rahma of Subway Takes, Nems and Benton McClintock. Its premise is a rejection of constant productivity, encouraging people to get distracted, touch grass and watch ducks. "The internet is where a lot of culture happens now, so it would be strange for a brand like Shinola to pretend otherwise," Jonathan Bailey, creative director at Shinola, told FashionUnited. "But we're not interested in chasing every trend or trying to speak in internet language for the sake of it." Instead of adopting online trends, the brand chose talent it sees as shaping culture and gave them room to bring their own voice to the campaign. "That creates something that feels more like a cultural exchange than a traditional brand message," Bailey said. The four stars were selected for their distinct points of view. "Tefi, Kareem, Nems and Benton come from very different worlds- entertainment, comedy, music and internet culture, but none of them feel overly manufactured," Bailey said. The anti-productivity message is a response to the cultural moment. "We're living in a culture that has made productivity feel like a measure of our worth," Bailey said. "We wanted to offer a different perspective: that time can also be valuable when you're doing absolutely nothing with it." Keeping the manufacturing story. Shinola has built its identity around Detroit and American manufacturing. Bailey said the lighter tone supports rather than undermines that positioning. "The seriousness of what we make gives us permission to have some fun with how we talk about it," he said. "In fact, I think the contrast makes the manufacturing story feel more relatable." The campaign also extends beyond social media through a partnership with US cereal brand Cheerios on a limited "Duck Watching Snack." Fewer than 100 boxes were produced, available only at select Shinola-hosted events marking the launch. "We didn't want to make a conventional co-branded product; We wanted to create a little artifact that made people smile and gave them another reason to stop, look around and, hopefully, watch some ducks, so to speak," Bailey said. Duck Automatic collection. The new 38-millimetre Duck Automatic collection includes three styles powered by the Miyota 9015 movement and a limited fourth version using the Miyota 9085, which offers a power reserve of around 80 hours. The watches are designed and assembled in Detroit. "The automatic movement is serious watchmaking; the Duck gives it a sense of play," Bailey said. The collection goes on sale October 6, with prices starting at 895 dollars.

Shinola launches Duck Automatic campaign & exclusive Cheerios collab... Starring Tefi Pessoa & Kareem Rahma. Oct. 5, 2026 at 9:18 am SHINOLA GOES AUTOMATIC WITH THE DUCK The Detroit design brand evolves one of its best-selling watch platforms with four new automatic timepieces, launching alongside a campaign starring Tefi Pessoa, Kareem Rahma, NEMS, and Benton McClintock - plus an ultra-limited "Duck Watching Snack" created with Cheerios. DETROIT | October 5, 2026 - Shinola is giving the Duck an automatic upgrade - and using the occasion to have a little fun. Today, Shinola introduces the Duck Automatic, bringing automatic movements to one of the brand's best-selling watch platforms for the first time. Reimagined in a refined 38mm case, the four-piece collection is powered by Japanese movements from Miyota. Three styles feature the Miyota 9015 with approximately 42 hours of power reserve, while a more exclusive fourth expression features the new Miyota 9085 with approximately 80 hours of power reserve - making Shinola one of the first American watch brands to receive the new movement. But the launch extends well beyond the watch itself. To introduce the Duck Automatic, Shinola is rolling out a campaign starring Tefi Pessoa, Kareem Rahma, NEMS, and Benton McClintock - four personalities spanning entertainment, comedy, music and internet culture - around the idea of stepping away from the endless demands on our time and attention. The campaign celebrates the freedom of going off-script for a while: getting lost, touching grass, watching ducks, indulging a distraction or simply following wherever the day takes you. Playful and irreverent, it brings the distinctive spirit of the Duck to life while introducing a more unexpected side of Shinola to a new generation of consumers. Pessoa, fresh off Love Island USA, joins Kareem Rahma, creator and host of Subway Takes and Keep the Meter Running; viral creator Benton McClintock; and New York rapper NEMS, whose 'Bing Bong' became an internet phenomenon. Extending that spirit beyond the campaign, Shinola has partnered with Cheerios to create the ultra-limited "Duck Watching Snack," a playful take on the simple pleasure of stopping to watch ducks. With fewer than 100 boxes produced and none available for purchase, the collaboration turns an everyday snack into an unexpected collectible - and brings the world of the Duck Automatic to life beyond the wrist. The campaign also marks the second major brand expression under Creative Director Jonathan Bailey, following this summer's Runwell campaign, and represents the continued evolution of Shinola's creative point of view. Together, the two campaigns signal a broader shift for the brand: pairing its longstanding focus on craft, design and Detroit manufacturing with a more culturally connected, personality-driven approach to storytelling. The launch continues throughout October with activations in Detroit and New York, including a duck-watching pop-up in Detroit, and a New York Watch Week celebration co-hosted by campaign star NEMS. The Duck Automatic will also be featured at Windup Watch Fair, October 16-18, where the first 50 Duck Automatic purchasers at the fair will receive the ultra-limited "Duck Watching Snack" Cheerios box and exclusive custom merchandise designed by Japanese artist SAKIE. The Shinola Duck Automatic Collection launches Tuesday, October 6, with four new styles. Two Miyota 9015- powered styles are priced at $895, while the gold 9015-powered style and the Miyota 9085-powered gift set are priced at $1,095. A guide to Shinola's updated Detrola collection.

A guide to Shinola's updated Detrola collection. Bold color meets everyday Detroit design. The Motor City based brand introduces four new additions to its Detrola lineup, including limited-production Color Theory models inspired by contemporary art and, for the first time, core Detrola references fitted with metal bracelets. (C) Shinola Born and raised in Detroit. Since its founding in 2011, Shinola has positioned itself as a champion of American manufacturing and design, assembling watches in Detroit while drawing inspiration from the city's rich industrial heritage and creative energy. The brand's philosophy centers on creating well-designed everyday products that blend accessibility, craftsmanship, and distinctive aesthetics. Its Detrola collection, introduced as a colorful and lightweight alternative to the company's steel-cased Runwell models, embodies that approach particularly well. Now Shinola is expanding the Detrola family with four new references that introduce fresh dial treatments, new bracelet options, and a display case back for the first time in the collection. Art-Inspired Color Theory editions. The most expressive additions are the limited-production Detrola Color Theory Cool and Detrola Color Theory Warm models. Both watches feature semi-matte 3D-printed dials inspired by abstract art and color studies, transforming the Detrola into a wearable canvas. The Theory Cool presents a playful composition of blue, pink, and mint-green tones. A field of geometric triangles appears to float across the dial, creating depth and movement while emphasizing the artistic concept behind the design. Printed mint-green minute tracking, warm gray hands filled with C1 Super-LumiNova, and a mint-green central seconds hand complete the vibrant display. Its counterpart, the Color Theory Warm, applies the same concept through a palette of orange and complementary hues, resulting in a more energetic visual character. Both watches feature a 41mm case consisting of a stainless-steel core co-molded with polished cream-colored TR90 resin. Additional design details include wire lugs, Shinola's signature onion-shaped crown, sapphire crystal, and quick-release rubber straps matching the respective dial colors. For the first time within this series, a clear resin caseback allows a view of the movement inside. Power comes from the Argonite 705 quartz caliber. The Color Theory Cool and Color Theory Warm retail for $495 each. Detrola goes metallic. Alongside the art-inspired editions, Shinola is introducing two permanent Detrola models that bring a more refined appearance to the collection. Most notably, they mark the first time that core Detrola references are available on a metal bracelet. The new Detrola Vapor Gold model features a warm gold-toned sunray dial paired with applied vertically brushed numerals and brushed silver hands with C1 Superluminova. The dial's subtle metallic sheen contrasts with the transparent polished TR90 case, while a newly developed brushed silver brick-link bracelet gives the watch a cool presence on the wrist. The Cypress Green version follows the same formula but swaps the gold dial for a deep green sunray finish. Matte alabaster numerals, brushed silver hands, and an alabaster-colored seconds hand create a softer, more understated look. Like the Color Theory editions, both models measure 41mm in diameter, feature a stainless-steel case surrounded and sapphire crystals. They are also powered by the Argonite 705 quartz movement and proudly assembled in Detroit. Pricing is marked at $595.

Domino's releases a new Slice Sauce, and a watch collection.

Domino's releases a new Slice Sauce, and a watch collection. The fast-food pizza chain is launching a sauce for customers to dip their pizzas in and is also giving those who buy its premium pizzas access to buy from a collection of high-end watches Jonathan Maze, Editor in Chief, Restaurant Business April 7, 2026 Domino's has a partnership with the watch and leather goods maker Shinola on special branded items. Photos courtesy of Domino's It's apparently time for Domino's to come out with a signature sauce. The fast-food pizza chain on Tuesday announced a new Slice Sauce, a dip designed for every bite of a customer's pizza. And it also announced a partnership with the Detroit-based Shinola on a selection of watches and leather goods that will go on sale starting on May 8. Customers who buy one of Domino's premium pizzas through May 7, the Handmade Pan or Parmesan Stuffed Crust Pizza, will get password-only access to shop from the collection at preferred rates. The collection ranges in price from $115 for a five-pocket cardholder to $1,350 for a Mechanic Watch. "Two iconic, Michigan-based brands are joining forces and we couldn't be more excited," Kate Trumbull, Domino's chief marketing officer, said in a statement. Domino's Slice Sauce is meant for dipping or dunking. For Domino's, the merchandise partnership and the sauce target customers willing to pay a bit more for their pizzas. The Ann Arbor, Michigan-based chain, like much of the rest of the fast-food, has been pushing lower-priced items in various formats in recent months as customers do more price shopping when visiting restaurants. The company recently re-ran its $9.99 any-pizza deal, its "Best Deal Ever" promotion, which ended earlier this week. But some customers are still spending, which requires chains to also market toward higher-spending consumers. Domino's Slice Sauce will come free with either of those premium pizzas now through June 14. Customers who order those pizzas will be able to unlock the chain's black-and-gold Domino's Tracker, promising "an even more premium experience." It's the first sauce from the chain that is designed for the whole pizza, rather than just the crust, so customers can dip or dunk their pies in the sauce or drizzle it over the top. And it comes as more brands promote signature sauces as a way to provide more menu innovation without making operations more complicated. And unique sauces are popular among consumers. As for the watches and leather goods, they will be presented in black-and-gold packaging, much like the special boxes for Domino's premium pizzas. And they are customized with subtle Domino's design details.
