About the company

Hotaling & Co. owns premium spirit brands and imports a curated line of international craft spirits for the U.S. market. Its own products include Junipero Gin, Old Potrero Rye Whiskey, and Hirsch Selected Whiskeys, while it also imports brands like Nikka, Kavalan, HINE Cognac, and Luxardo to offer a broad portfolio. The company combines its Anchor Distilling heritage with a dual focus on brand ownership and global sourcing, instead of competing mainly on manufacturing scale. Its goal is to be a leading supplier of premium and craft spirits in the U.S., growing its owned brands and expanding distribution of its import portfolio.

What believers are saying

  • On May 26, 2026, Hotaling won Frey Ranch national sales and marketing responsibilities.
  • Existing inventory through 2026 supports Junipero and Old Potrero continuity during the transition.
  • The September 25, 2026 portfolio still includes Nikka, HINE, Kavalan, Dingle, and Luxardo.

What critics are saying

  • On February 27, 2026, Pier 50 closed, ending in-house distilling and jobs.
  • Old Potrero and Junipero now depend on contract distillers, weakening quality control and margins.
  • If import partners shift volumes to larger distributors, Hotaling loses its core revenue engine.

What makes Hotaling & CO. unique

  • San Francisco heritage brands Old Potrero and Junipero anchor a 1993 Maytag legacy.
  • Hotaling & Co. combines owned spirits with importer distribution for Nikka, Kavalan, and Luxardo.
  • The company sells premium craft spirits through national trade relationships, not commodity bulk whiskey.
