Palo Alto Networks reports 34.4% revenue growth to $3.41B, leads cybersecurity peers in Q2

Palo Alto Networks reported Q2 revenues of $3.41 billion, up 34.4% year on year, exceeding analyst expectations by 1.7%. The cybersecurity company's EPS guidance for next quarter and full-year both beat analyst expectations. Despite posting strong results, the stock has declined 8.7% since reporting and currently trades at $330.65. Analysts suggest investor expectations may have been higher than Wall Street's published projections. Among the nine cybersecurity stocks tracked, Palo Alto Networks achieved the highest guidance raise, fastest revenue growth, and highest full-year guidance raise. As a group, the sector's Q2 revenues beat consensus estimates by 1.7%, though cybersecurity stocks have collectively declined an average of 1.7% since earnings results.

Palo Alto Networks surges 11% on AI defence push despite 5% GAAP operating margin

Palo Alto Networks shares surged approximately 10.8% to $366.315 on Monday as cybersecurity stocks rallied on AI-safety concerns. The network and cloud-security company reported strong fourth-quarter results, with revenue rising 34% to $3.41 billion and next-generation security annual recurring revenue reaching $9.10 billion. The company reported $172 million of GAAP operating income versus roughly $1 billion on an adjusted basis. Its new Frontier AI Critical Defense Programme targets critical infrastructure protection at the network layer. However, valuation concerns remain. Shares now trade 57.83% above the GF Value estimate of $232.09. With GAAP operating margin at around 5%, further gains will likely require the company to demonstrate that acquisitions and AI-security spending can translate into stronger reported profitability.

CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks race to dominate AI cybersecurity with opposite strategies

Jensen Huang told investors on 10 September that cybersecurity is likely to become AI's next major growth market, according to Seeking Alpha. Hours later, Anthropic said it had disrupted a Russia-linked hacking campaign using its Claude models against over 20 Ukrainian targets. CrowdStrike and Palo Alto Networks are pursuing opposite strategies to capture this market. CrowdStrike built SafeMind, an agentic cybersecurity system, using its own data and open models. The company reported 26% revenue growth to $1.47 billion in its fiscal second quarter. Palo Alto Networks acquired its way in, integrating CyberArk, Chronosphere, and Console. Its Next Generation Security annual recurring revenue reached $9.1 billion, up 63% year over year. However, the company posted a $282 million net loss, reflecting acquisition costs. Investors rewarded CrowdStrike's approach with a 20% share price jump, whilst Palo Alto's shares fell 5% despite strong revenue growth.

Palo Alto CEO says AI is forcing companies to modernise $1T in outdated cybersecurity

Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora told CNBC that artificial intelligence is forcing companies to modernize roughly $1 trillion worth of outdated cybersecurity infrastructure unable to handle attacks at machine speed. He said security modernisation has become essential for firms pursuing AI ambitions. The comments accompanied strong fiscal fourth-quarter results. Revenue rose 34% to $3.41 billion, whilst next-generation security annual recurring revenue climbed 63% to $9.1 billion. The company guided fiscal 2027 revenue to $14.1 billion to $14.2 billion, representing 23% to 24% growth. Arora noted that Anthropic's Mythos AI model release this year accelerated customer urgency around security updates. Palo Alto has discussed its Frontier AI Critical Defense Programme with roughly 2,000 companies since launching the initiative in August.

Fisher doubles Cisco stake, adds 22x more Palo Alto shares in AI security play

Ken Fisher's firm increased its stakes in Cisco Systems and Palo Alto Networks between March and June, according to regulatory filings disclosed in September. Fisher Asset Management's Cisco position rose from 17.3 million to 33.4 million shares, whilst its Palo Alto holdings jumped from 256,661 to 5.8 million shares. The two companies represent different approaches to AI infrastructure security. Cisco combines networking equipment with security software, reporting 28% growth in fiscal Q4 networking revenue to $9.8 billion and 14% growth in security revenue to $2.2 billion. Palo Alto focuses on security platforms, posting 34% revenue growth to $3.41 billion in its fiscal Q4, though it reported a $282 million GAAP net loss partly due to fair-value charges on acquired convertible notes. The filings do not explain Fisher's investment rationale.
