Requirements
  • 5+ years of full-cycle business-to-business software-as-a-service sales experience, with a track record of self-sourced pipeline and closed-won revenue.
  • Prior experience as an early or founding sales hire, or strong interest in building process from scratch rather than executing an existing playbook.
  • Hands-on comfort with modern artificial intelligence coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, and ChatGPT.
  • Technical fluency sufficient to assess feasibility, including distinguishing a quick script, an application programming interface integration, and a substantial engineering effort.
  • Strong outbound prospecting ability and the ability to build pipeline independently.
  • Ability to work with both technical and executive buyers and translate business pain into a sales narrative and technical prototype.
  • Comfort working as the sole initial go-to-market hire on a single-product startup team.
Responsibilities
  • Own the full sales cycle for the Hackathon product, including sourcing, qualification, discovery, demonstrations, negotiation, and closing new business without handoffs.
  • Build and execute an outbound motion using email, LinkedIn, and calling, alongside inbound, marketing-sourced, and warm-referral leads.
  • Identify where the Hackathon product does not fully meet a prospect’s event, workflow, or other requirements.
  • Use artificial intelligence coding tools to rapidly prototype scripts, lightweight integrations, custom automations, or mockups of missing features.
  • Technically assess when a prospect need cannot reasonably be solved and reposition the deal without overpromising.
  • Convert field learnings and prototypes into structured input for Hackathon’s product and engineering work.
  • Forecast accurately and manage the sales pipeline in the customer relationship management system.
  • Help define the ideal customer profile and messaging based on deal signals.
  • Document effective discovery, demonstration, and closing practices into a repeatable sales playbook.
  • Help select and implement the customer relationship management, sales engagement, and artificial intelligence tooling for Hackathon’s go-to-market motion.
  • Work with Hackathon’s product and marketing functions and Brightidea’s broader teams on positioning, packaging, pricing, and feedback loops.
  • Bring objections and win/loss patterns to leadership to inform pricing and packaging.
  • Help source, screen, or reference-check future sales hires as the go-to-market team grows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience selling into innovation, human resources, people operations, event, or learning and development personas.
  • Experience at an early-stage or lean-team software-as-a-service startup where account executives handled multiple functions.
  • Experience selling event, community, or engagement-platform products.
  • A portfolio, GitHub repository, or demo of something created with AI coding tools.
  • Experience building or formalizing a sales process, playbook, or tooling stack from the ground up, ideally at a company spun out of or backed by a larger parent.

Brightidea Launches Memo, The World’S First Purpose-Built Software Solution To Drive Longform Narrative Writing For Business

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Businesses, in all industries, struggle to not only activate on a raw idea that sits outside a business as usual planning cycle but they struggle to weed through the complexities of concepts, understanding which ideas will truly drive the business — understanding which projects are best for the business to focus on at this juncture and which ideas have will have the most impact for the business and for customers. With scarce resources to invest, business leaders find the margins for error are razor thin and a slight miscalculation can be fatal. Longform narrative writing, which has been popularized by Amazon and Jeff Bezos, helps craft a raw idea into a well defined proposal for business circulation and resourcing. This methodology, known as Working Backwards, which is referenced by Jeff Bezos in Amazon’s 2015 shareholder letter, has been proven time and again as the best way to fully develop an idea that is capable of wholesale business transformation that can deliver game changing returns. Amazon’s “invention machine” has leveraged this process, enabling the company to innovate consistently for decades, and transform from an online bookstore into one of the world’s most dominant and disrupting innovators
