About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 3 years of applied data science or machine learning experience shipping models to production; senior candidates require at least 5 years, including ownership of complex systems and demonstrable technical leadership.
  • Strong programming proficiency in Python and modern machine learning/artificial intelligence libraries such as PyTorch or JAX, scikit-learn, Hugging Face, and pandas.
  • Grounding in statistical modeling, experimentation, and classical machine learning, including regression, tree-based methods such as Random Forest, XGBoost, and LightGBM, time-series forecasting, and anomaly detection.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one specialty area: natural language processing and large language models, computer vision, or multimodal systems.
  • Practical experience with foundation models and large language model APIs, including prompt design, structured outputs, function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, and fine-tuning where appropriate.
  • Comfort using modern artificial intelligence development workflows, including artificial intelligence coding assistants and agentic integrated development environments such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
  • Experience with data engineering fundamentals and big-data tooling such as PySpark, Databricks, or equivalent distributed-compute frameworks.
  • Familiarity with machine learning operations and large language model operations practices, including model and prompt version control, experiment tracking, continuous integration and deployment for machine learning, monitoring, and evaluation pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Own machine learning projects end-to-end, from problem framing and data exploration through modeling, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Design and ship production machine learning systems for churn and propensity modeling, demand forecasting, anomaly detection, pricing optimization, and recommendation, selecting suitable methods such as gradient-boosted models, fine-tuned foundation models, or agent-based workflows.
  • Build agentic artificial intelligence workflows that automate business decision-making, including multi-agent systems, tool-using agents, and human-in-the-loop pipelines that combine large language model reasoning with deterministic logic and traditional machine learning.
  • Use modern artificial intelligence development tooling, including coding assistants, agentic integrated development environments, automated evaluation harnesses, and machine learning operations platforms, as part of engineering practice.
  • Apply foundation models and domain-specific machine learning to extract signals from structured data, text, images, audio, or multimodal inputs as appropriate.
  • Design rigorous evaluations for deterministic models and probabilistic artificial intelligence systems, including offline metrics, online A/B tests, large language model-as-judge frameworks, and regression suites for non-deterministic outputs.
  • Partner with data and platform engineers to build robust pipelines, feature stores, and serving infrastructure for classical machine learning and modern artificial intelligence workloads.
  • Communicate model behavior, tradeoffs, and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders to support business decisions.
  • For senior candidates, set technical direction for an area of the machine learning stack, mentor mid-level and junior engineers, lead design reviews, and influence tooling, evaluation standards, and architectural choices.
