What believers are saying

  • GridMarket ordered up to 5GW in March 2026, validating customer demand.
  • Arbor raised $55 million Series A and $41 million Frontier-backed capital.
  • Data-center power scarcity gives Arbor a strong market if HALCYON meets 2028 deadlines.

What critics are saying

  • Methane leakage from Arbor's natural-gas supply chain can erase climate benefits immediately.
  • First commercial turbine slips to 2028, leaving years of execution risk before revenue.
  • Arbor depends on unproven 25MW hardware, making a 5GW GridMarket promise fragile.

What makes Arbor Energy unique

  • Former SpaceX engineers built HALCYON around rocket turbomachinery and sCO2 cycles.
  • Arbor ships pre-assembled, 3D-printed 25MW turbines, compressing industrial deployment timelines.
  • Fuel-flexible HALCYON burns natural gas today and biomass-derived syngas for negative-emission operation.

Arbor Energy partners with GridMarket to deliver up to 5GW of power for US data center market.

Arbor Energy partners with GridMarket to deliver up to 5GW of power for US data center market. Will support the deployment of Arbor's 25MW modular turbine solution March 26, 2026 US power systems firm Arbor Energy has signed an agreement with energy optimization platform GridMarket to deliver up to 5GW of power to the data center sector, with supply expected to begin in 2029. The deal will target data center operators and other industrial customers, offering a shorter deployment cycle than other power alternatives. To shorten timelines, Arbor has adopted a modular approach to power generation through its 25MW Halycon turbine. The turbines are adapted from rocket turbomachinery and can run on fuels ranging from natural gas to biomass-derived syngas. The turbines are also modular by design and come as a pre-assembled unit, using 3D printing to reduce manufacturing complexity. Systems can be deployed individually or combined into larger installations, depending on demand. "Power availability is quickly becoming the gating factor for data center and industrial development," said Nick Davis, CEO of GridMarket. "Our customers are increasingly looking for ways to secure new capacity faster than traditional generation timelines allow. Arbor's system adds a new option for bringing baseload power online as demand continues to grow." Alongside the agreement, Arbor announced the appointment of Nishad Pai as chief commercial officer. He previously led business development and partnerships at Heirloom, and has held roles at Google, Amazon, YouTube, and Adobe. "I've spent much of my career helping bring new technologies to market, from large-scale software platforms to emerging energy solutions," said Pai. "What drew me to Arbor is the opportunity to apply that experience to one of the biggest challenges ahead: building more power infrastructure faster. I'm excited to help bring new capacity online at the scale and speed the market demands." Arbor plans to scale production over the coming decade, targeting more than 100 turbines shipped annually by 2030, equivalent to over 1GW of new capacity each year. The additional generation is expected to support data centers, manufacturers, and utilities seeking additional baseload supply and improved grid resilience. More in behind-the-meter.

Arbor Energy lands multi-billion dollar deal for 5GW of rocket-powered turbines

Arbor Energy has secured an order from GridMarket for up to 5 gigawatts of its modular turbines, worth single-digit billions of dollars. The deal represents 200 units of Arbor's 25-megawatt Halcyon turbines, based on rocket turbomachinery technology. The startup plans to connect its first turbine to the grid in 2028 and eventually produce 10 gigawatts of new capacity annually. Halcyon turbines use 3D-printed parts and can run on both biomass and natural gas, producing pure CO2 that can be captured and stored. When running on biomass, the turbines generate carbon-negative power. Arbor has raised $295 million to date. The company aims to deliver power faster than traditional turbine manufacturers, which currently face delays until 2032 due to supply chain constraints.
