About the job

Requirements
  • Direct experience with Scaled Agile Framework or scaled Agile, including running Program Increment planning, epics, and cross-team dependency tracking.
  • Strong Jira fluency, including epic structure and dependency tables across teams.
  • Experience running mandate-driven or compliance-driven roadmaps in banking, fintech, healthcare, or similar regulated environments.
  • Exposure to data or reporting pipelines, business intelligence-adjacent team leadership, or schema change management; writing SQL is not required.
  • Experience managing multiple parallel teams and backlogs at once, not just multiple priorities within a single team.
  • Comfort using Claude Code or similar artificial intelligence coding tools.
Responsibilities
  • Own the reporting roadmap, including directly examining report schemas and data pipelines and reimagining how reporting is done.
  • Run Program Increment planning with epics, story-point sizing, sprint mapping, and confidence votes across multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Manage cross-team dependencies by surfacing and negotiating blockers beyond the role’s own team board.
  • Drive delivery on regulatory and compliance mandates, including fee simplification, fee label mapping, and IFPA reporting requirements.
  • Sanity-check technical discussions with engineers on schema changes, regression testing, batch uploads, and reconciliation work.
  • Help prioritize the security backlog and distinguish remediation from mitigation.
  • Coordinate with a platform team on infrastructure dependencies, such as Java version upgrades, that affect the roadmap.
  • Present status and tradeoffs to non-engineering stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and executive audiences.
  • Reimagine existing reporting processes and propose ways to structure, automate, or simplify them.
Desired Qualifications
  • Background in payments, card network processing, or financial settlement systems; settlement, fee billing, or interchange experience is a plus.

About the company

Kunai is a software development partner that helps established companies and fast-growing startups turn ideas into scalable, shipped digital products. It combines engineers, designers, and product managers to take concepts from napkin sketches to live products used by millions, offering end-to-end execution and long-term partnerships. Unlike some vendors that work in silos, Kunai emphasizes enduring collaboration—evidenced by a long-term relationship with Capital One that led to a partial acquisition and a portfolio spanning four major payment networks, four top-ten US banks, seven Fortune 500 technology companies, and ten unicorn startups. The company’s goal is to turn ideas into reliable, scalable products and maintain lasting relationships that help clients grow."

  • LinkedIn showed active hiring in March 2026, including cloud and fullstack roles.

What critics are saying

  • PwC integration can erase Kunai’s standalone brand by 2026, collapsing employer identity.
  • Consulting work depends on bank budgets; downturns freeze transformations and delay renewals.
  • Large firms like Accenture and EPAM commoditize similar AI-cloud engineering, squeezing margins fast.

What makes Kunai unique
