About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably electrical engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 5–8 years of experience in electrical design, pre-sales engineering, or integrated solution design.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including network calculations, protection coordination, and withstand rating.
  • Experience with data centre power architecture, power skids, or comparable engineered systems.
  • Working knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards, CE/UKCA requirements, EMEA national codes, and CAD, BIM, and network-calculation tools.
  • Ability to validate architectures using power-system simulation and digital-twin-based design validation, de-risk designs before release, and interpret results.
  • Strong written and verbal English.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate system blueprints by translating validated product mixes into precise single-line diagrams and site-specific physical layouts within customers’ actual building footprints.
  • Perform electrical engineering design, including load and short-circuit current calculations, network calculations, and withstand ratings, with support from the Pre-Sales Electrical Engineer for detailed studies.
  • Integrate mechanical, electrical, control, and EPMS disciplines into coherent solutions, coordinating the Pre-Sales Electrical Engineer and Senior CAD Engineer on assigned opportunities.
  • Interpret customer requirements, specifications, and tender documentation and translate them into buildable designs.
  • Coordinate technically with customers, consultants, and suppliers during the proposal phase.
  • Work with design engineering and factories to validate feasibility, cost, and lead time before making commitments.
  • Apply design-for-safety principles in every single-line diagram and layout, including protection coordination, arc-flash mitigation, clearances, and safe maintainability.
  • Use simulation and digital-twin validation to confirm performance and reduce design risk before release to customers.
  • Hand over designs to Engineering-to-Order at the agreed trigger point, documenting assumptions, exclusions, and open items, and flagging long-lead-time items early enough for production to act.
  • Contribute reusable building blocks and standard configurations to the engineering library.
  • Use CPQ, configurators, design automation, and AI-enabled tools to shorten design cycle time, validating every output with engineering judgment.
  • Support Technical Sales with technical content for complex proposals.
  • Technically lead assigned opportunities by guiding and reviewing the work of Pre-Sales Electrical and CAD Engineers and mentoring colleagues.

Desired Qualifications

  • Exposure to grid-interaction studies, including power simulation, BESS, or Microgrid.
  • Exposure to medium-voltage switchgear applications.
  • Additional EMEA languages.

About the Company

Vertiv

Builds power and cooling systems for data centers

Vertiv builds power and cooling equipment that keeps data centers, communication networks, and industrial facilities running through outages and heavy computing loads. Its Liebert cooling systems manage the heat generated by servers, while its power products protect equipment and distribute electricity. The company sells equipment directly and through distributors, then earns additional revenue from installation, maintenance, spare parts, and services throughout the equipment life cycle. Its portfolio also includes racks and software for monitoring and managing IT equipment. Vertiv became a standalone company in 2016 and is headquartered in Westerville, Ohio.
