About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience and/or education using industry-standard tools for place-and-route implementation.
  • Experience and/or education performing static timing analysis across multiple corners and modes, fixing setup and hold violations, and debugging timing paths.
  • Experience and/or education creating block-level floorplans, including macro placement, pin assignment, power grid design, tap cell insertion, and congestion reduction.
  • Experience and/or education running and debugging design rule checking and layout versus schematic using tools.
  • Fundamental understanding of clock trees, including skew and insertion delays, and their impact on setup and hold timing.
  • Fundamental understanding of the impact of drive strengths, threshold-voltage swapping, and buffering on static timing analysis.
  • Experience and/or education implementing power changes, including leakage recovery and threshold-voltage swaps, and functional changes through gate-level patching.
  • Experience and/or education using Tcl and shell scripting to automate place-and-route flows, parse reports, or create computer-aided design utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with logic designers to determine design hierarchy and architect macro and design-module placement to optimize power, performance, and area at the floorplan stage.
  • Use electronic design automation tools to optimize placement locations for millions of design cells.
  • Construct clock trees to support high-performance, low-power designs.
  • Route designs to meet current technology foundry guidelines and rules.
  • Verify design performance using static analysis and generate engineering change orders to fix failing paths.
  • Verify designs for electrical rule checks, design rule checks, electromigration, and IR drop.
  • Fix violations in the physical database.
  • Review and sign off on designs to ensure quality and power, performance, and area are maintained.
  • Identify, debug, and resolve flow issues during place-and-route implementation.
  • Develop scripts and programs as needed to implement designs.
