About the job

Requirements
  • You have been an early founding-team technical leader who built a product and a company from the ground up and experienced the -1 to 0 journey.
  • You have 5–8+ years of experience building technology, including meaningful time as a chief technology officer, founding engineer, or senior technical leader at an early-stage company.
  • You have a technical or scientific foundation with a degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related field, and a demonstrated habit of staying at the frontier of artificial intelligence through building or research.
  • You have deep, current fluency in modern artificial intelligence and large language models to distinguish a real technical advantage from a wrapper, make effective build-versus-buy decisions, and guide founding teams credibly.
  • You have commercial and product judgment to determine which problems are worth solving and which should be stopped quickly.
  • You can earn the trust of clinicians, executives, and entrepreneurs and move with urgency once trust is established.
Responsibilities
  • Work directly with Cedars-Sinai clinicians, researchers, and operational leaders to surface high-conviction problems and evaluate whether they are technically solvable.
  • Translate clinical pain points and institutional white space into technically grounded venture theses anchored in workflow integration, stakeholder willingness to pay, and credible technology capabilities.
  • Identify the key questions for each concept and resolve them through primary conversations and hands-on prototyping.
  • Lead technical evaluation of concepts and the tools, models, data, and vendors they depend on.
  • Build prototypes and proofs of concept that reduce the risk of the hardest technical assumptions before a company is funded.
  • Present concepts to Redesign’s Investment Committee with an honest representation of technical risk and a clear path to Cedars-Sinai as a design partner and first customer.
  • Help founders make early technical decisions about architecture, build-versus-buy, data strategy, artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches, and hiring.
  • Help funded companies access Cedars-Sinai’s provider network and data platform for piloting, implementation, and research validation.
  • Convert technical knowledge and evaluations into large language model-enabled systems and workflows for landscaping, competitive mapping, and technical research.
  • Cultivate relationships with local universities and technical talent and help establish the Cedars-Sinai Digital Innovation Platform as a hub for healthcare founders in Los Angeles.
Desired Qualifications
  • Health or health-technology experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience mentoring or advising other founders as an angel, accelerator mentor, advisor, or founder helping founders is very helpful.

About the company

Redesign Health builds and scales new healthcare companies from the ground up. It ideates based on identified health needs, recruits top founders, and creates startups that focus on patient solutions and provider support. The process involves in-house research, due diligence, and leveraging a network of over 200 healthcare incumbents to identify opportunities, then launching and rapidly growing these ventures until they become profitable. Revenue comes from the services provided by the portfolio companies, with potential exits through acquisitions or public offerings. Unlike firms that only invest in existing businesses, Redesign Health creates new companies designed to address significant health challenges. Their goal is to improve human health by delivering scalable, market-ready healthcare solutions and sustaining growth for the ventures they build.

What believers are saying

  • June 2026 India expansion opens a large, digital-first healthcare market for new ventures.
  • OmicsBank raised $2.25 million from Redesign on August 25, 2026, signaling active deployment.
  • The 12-person India team and Sky Impact partnership accelerate sourcing, diligence, and partnerships.

What critics are saying

  • Idea-stage healthcare AI bets need long regulatory and reimbursement cycles before meaningful revenue.
  • Backing only five to six India startups yearly concentrates losses if launches stall.
  • If portfolio exits keep lagging, Redesign becomes a talent-heavy studio without compounding returns.

What makes Redesign Health unique

  • Redesign Health builds companies, not just backs them, from ideation through exit.
  • Its June 2026 India fund targets healthcare AI founders at pre-seed and ideation.
  • The platform’s operator network spans U.S., Middle East, and India healthcare incumbents.

US-based Redesign Health teams up with Sky Impact to launch dedicated India fund.

US-based Redesign Health teams up with Sky Impact to launch dedicated India fund. * 26 Jun 2026 * Listen to Story US-based venture capital firm and startup studio Redesign Health plans to launch a dedicated India investment vehicle in partnership with Mumbai-based Sky Impact Capital. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in New York, Redesign Health has backed more than 60 companies, including virtual diagnostics and testing startup Vault Health, digital oncology platform Jasper Health, and Translucent AI, an agentic AI platform that helps hospitals manage financial operations. Through the new fund, the firm will back founders building healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) companies for both Indian and global markets. The firm said India's large and growing healthcare market, digital infrastructure, and deep pool of technical talent make it an interesting destination for healthcare-focussed investments. "India represents one of the most important opportunities in global healthcare and AI," said Brett Shaheen, founder and chief executive officer of Redesign Health. "The combination of engineering talent, clinical need, and system complexity creates the conditions to build solutions that are both locally transformative and globally relevant. We see an opportunity to partner with founders at the earliest stages and help them build companies that define the future of healthcare both within the country and at a global scale," he added. Sky Impact Capital, an operationally focussed investment firm, manages capital for prominent global institutions and family offices, and invests across healthcare, education, and consumer sectors. "We are excited to partner with Redesign Health, whose proven model brings a differentiated capability to the Indian market and is the right model to capitalize on India's advantages to create and capture value in healthcare," said Aakash Sachdev, founder and managing partner of Sky Impact Capital and co-founder and general partner of Redesign Health India. "We believe we can work with exceptional founders, leverage technology to expand access and improve outcomes, and build leading healthcare companies for India and from India for the world," he added. The fund will invest in early-stage healthcare AI companies in India, with a focus on pre-seed and ideation-stage founders. It will work with founders from ideation through exit, helping companies refine concepts and navigate regulatory, reimbursement, and commercialization pathways, achieving product-market fit, providing go-to-market expertise and accelerating commercial traction. Redesign Health said it is also expanding its local team, advancing development partnerships, and building a pipeline of early-stage investment opportunities in India.

Redesign Health partners with Sky Impact Capital as it enters India to back next-generation healthcare AI companies.

Redesign Health partners with Sky Impact Capital as it enters India to back next-generation healthcare AI companies. ANI 26 Jun 2026, 10:29 GMT+ BusinessWire India New York [US]/ Mumbai (Maharashtra)/ Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 26: Redesign Health, a global venture and applied technology firm, today announced its deeper expansion into India, with plans to invest in and partner with a new generation of founders building healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) companies for India and global markets. The expansion reflects Redesign Health's conviction that India is one of the best markets in the world for building and investing in healthcare AI. The country combines a large and rapidly growing healthcare market, digital infrastructure that enables rapid scaling, world-class healthcare incumbents with whom to partner, and a deep pool of technical talent. As part of this effort, Redesign Health has partnered with healthcare-focused, operationally-oriented investment firm Sky Impact Capital and is in the process of raising a dedicated investment vehicle to support early-stage healthcare AI companies in India, with a focus on pre-seed and ideation-stage founders. 'India represents one of the most important opportunities in global healthcare and AI,' said Brett Shaheen, Founder and CEO of Redesign Health. 'The combination of engineering talent, clinical need, and system complexity creates the conditions to build solutions that are both locally transformative and globally relevant. We see an opportunity to partner with founders at the earliest stages and help them build companies that define the future of healthcare both within the country and at a global scale.' 'Calcutta News.Net is excited to partner with Redesign Health, whose proven model brings a differentiated capability to the Indian market and is the right model to capitalize on India's advantages to create and capture value in healthcare,' said Aakash Sachdev, Founder & Managing Partner of Sky Impact Capital and Co-Founder & General Partner of Redesign Health India. 'Since inception in 2018, Sky Impact Capital has impacted millions of lives, and through this partnership, we believe we can work with exceptional founders, leverage technology to expand access and improve outcomes, and build leading healthcare companies for India and from India for the world.' India is emerging as a critical center of innovation, particularly in healthcare, where the need for scalable, technology-enabled solutions is immediate. India's healthcare system operates at a level of scale and diversity that few other markets can match, creating an environment where AI solutions can be developed, tested, and refined across a wide range of real-world conditions. At the same time, the country's growing base of engineers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs is increasingly focused on building companies with global reach. 'Over the past several months, Calcutta News.Net has spoken with more than a hundred healthcare and AI founders across India. What stands out is their ambition not only to improve healthcare outcomes in India, but to build companies with the potential to shape healthcare globally,' said Adam Jones, Managing Director at Redesign Health. 'With our approach to founder support, deep healthcare expertise, and presence across India, the Middle East, and the United States, we believe Redesign is uniquely positioned to help entrepreneurs navigate the challenges of building and scaling global healthcare businesses.' Redesign Health's model is designed to support founders from ideation through exit, an area where there is still limited structured support in India, particularly for healthcare-focused companies. Through its platform, Redesign Health will: - Partner with founders at the pre-seed and concept stage to refine concepts, and navigate regulatory, reimbursement, and commercialization pathways, achieving rapid product-market fit; - Provide product and go-to-market expertise, accelerating commercial traction; and - Support companies in building for both Indian and global markets, to build Indian national champions and achieve venture scale outcomes. Beyond company creation, Redesign Health's expansion is also focused on contributing to the evolution of India's healthcare system itself. AI-enabled solutions developed in India have the potential to expand access to care across underserved populations, improve early detection and disease management, increase system efficiency in high-demand environments, and create new models for delivering care at scale. Redesign plans to work closely with healthcare providers, partners, and policymakers to support the responsible development and deployment of these technologies. With a team of investors and operators already established in India, Redesign Health is accelerating its buildout in India, expanding its local team, advancing development partnerships, and progressing a pipeline of early-stage investment opportunities. Further updates, including initial company launches and strategic partnerships, are expected in the coming months.
