About the Company

Celgard

High-performance membranes for energy storage

Celgard makes high-performance membrane materials and thin separators used in batteries, and provides fabrics for outdoor apparel and medical PPE. These membranes sit between battery electrodes to prevent contact while allowing ions to pass, enabling safe and efficient operation in lithium-ion and other chemistries. They also supply materials to manufacturers of waterproof breathable textiles and protective PPE. Backed by the Asahi Kasei Group and strategic partnerships, they expand capacity to meet rising demand and pursue collaborations to advance new battery chemistries, with the goal of delivering reliable membranes that enable safer, longer-lasting batteries and protective fabrics.
