Requirements
  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience, with most experience in data engineering.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and accountability for work beyond one's own.
  • Deep production Snowflake expertise, including data models, warehouses, ELT/ETL pipelines, and performant SQL.
  • Experience owning data model or data platform design from requirements through production.
  • Experience leading discovery and shaping technical solutions directly with clients or business stakeholders.
  • Ability to estimate and plan work at the system and project level.
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake performance tuning, cost optimization, security, and governance, including warehouse sizing, clustering, and role-based access control.
  • Strong recent hands-on proficiency in Python and C# for back-end development.
  • Hands-on experience with relational SQL databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs.
  • Practical DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and server configuration.
  • Comfort working in Windows Server and Linux environments.
  • Experience establishing engineering standards or practices adopted by other engineers.
  • Ability to manage and context-switch across multiple concurrent client projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, including technical communication with non-technical stakeholders and leading client design conversations.
Responsibilities
  • Own the technical solution and provide overall technical oversight for accounts from discovery through production and ongoing support.
  • Lead discovery, gather requirements directly from clients, and present solutions and trade-offs to client stakeholders.
  • Lead architecture and own system design for engagements, including resulting data models, warehouses, and ELT/ETL pipelines.
  • Evaluate and estimate work at the system and project level.
  • Architect, build, and maintain Snowflake data models, warehouses, and pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Perform critical, complex, and time-sensitive engineering work while contributing substantially to the team's code.
  • Develop and tune complex SQL, stored procedures, and transformations in Snowflake, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Apply Snowflake capabilities including Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks, dynamic tables, and external and stage integrations for near-real-time data flows.
  • Own Snowflake performance, governance, and cost management across accounts, including warehouse sizing, clustering, role-based access control, and data security.
  • Design, build, and maintain back-end APIs and services in Python and C#/.NET.
  • Design and own integrations with marketing, CRM, and analytics platforms, including authentication, error handling, and production monitoring.
  • Own CI/CD and deployment paths across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Establish, implement, measure, and iterate on engineering practices for the data practice.
  • Raise engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, and written architecture decisions.
  • Set technical direction, review designs, pair on difficult problems, and grow team depth in Snowflake and back-end development.
  • Create and lead training for internal and client teams on built solutions.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for production issues, own fixes, and prevent recurrence.
  • Own project-level technical communication with senior internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Guide the team on effective technical communication.
  • Participate in new business scoping and pursuits.
  • Contribute to the agency's technical reputation through knowledge sharing, writing, industry events, and panels.
  • Evaluate new platform capabilities and AI-assisted development tooling and incorporate effective tools into team practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Agency, consultancy, or client-services experience with multiple concurrent clients and client-facing scoping and delivery.
  • Active SnowPro certification, preferably Core; Advanced Data Engineer or Architect certification is a significant plus.
  • Working fluency with AI-assisted development tools.
  • Experience with Snowflake capabilities including CoCo, CoWork, Horizon Catalog, and Horizon Context (Semantic Views).
  • Experience with Redshift and/or Databricks.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Azure App Services, or other Azure services.
  • Experience with HubSpot CMS, HubSpot APIs, or marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience with IIS, .NET deployment, or Windows service management.
