About the Job

Requirements

  • Experience designing, simulating, and nanofabricating superconducting resonators.
  • Experience designing and characterizing microwave circuits, including use of a vector network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, or FPGA-based data acquisition.
  • Experience conducting cryogenic measurements and maintaining equipment, preferably a dilution refrigerator.
  • Knowledge of low-noise microwave characterization, including noise-isolation components such as circulators, isolators, attenuators, thermal anchoring, and grounding.
  • Hands-on knowledge of designing and making sample holders and components for building new electronic experiments.
  • A Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics, experimental High Energy Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in quantum sensing, quantum information science, superconducting circuits, or magnonics.
  • Proficiency in scientific software development, such as Python, COMSOL, HFSS, or similar languages.

Responsibilities

  • Develop superconducting hybrid circuits that couple macroscopic magnetic crystals as magnon target mass with solid-state single-electron qubits while maintaining magnetic-field compatibility.
  • Develop superconducting hybrid circuits that couple to large single-crystal YIG spheres to optimize magnon target mass and improve axion-detector sensitivity.
  • Develop detector-sensing demonstration experiments to measure the quantum efficiency and dark-count rates of magnon quantum detectors.
  • Develop quantum-limit devices based on high superconducting kinetic inductance with magnetic-field tolerance, such as parametric amplifiers and qubits, for on-chip magnon quantum sensing.
