Job Details

Responsible for the safety and security of all Jefferson employees, students, visitors, staff and property. As designated by the shift supervisor, police officers patrols the Jefferson campus either on foot or on bicycle and monitors the environment of safety at various locations on campus. The police officer will respond to all serious incidents on campus and take the appropriate action in accordance with Federal, State, Local and Organizational laws and policy. Must be available to work all shifts and must be able to rotate between shifts in accordance with organizational needs.

• Knowledge of successful approaches, tools, and techniques for dealing with changes and adapting to a changing environment, ability to adapt as needed.
• Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems, ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
• Knowledge of, and ability to implement, the measures necessary to safeguard an organization's employees and visitors.
• Knowledge of and ability to employ required tools, techniques and technologies to minimize losses due to breaches of physical premises security.
• Understanding of the issues related to the decision-making process, ability to analyze situations fully and accurately, and reach productive decisions.
• Ability to work with a group to set its objectives and agenda, generate allegiance to those objectives, and guide and motivate their achievement.
• Knowledge of crisis management concepts and techniques, ability to predict, avert, mitigate, and recover from an event that has or could have a severely negative impact on the business.
• Knowledge of and ability to use tools and techniques to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from an emergency.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
• Security experience or prior Law Enforcement or Military experience required.
• Must be able to pass Physical Fitness, Psychological, and Drug testing examinations established by Jefferson for this position (all divisions).
• PA Armed positions only: meets the requirements of Police Academy training or meets requirements of Act 501 and Act 235F. 
• Valid Driver’s License required. 
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

Physical Demands
Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
